Today Peanuts Worldwide announced their initiatives to bring everyone’s favorite dog, Snoopy, into the digital age. Peanuts Worldwide has announced several new partnerships to expand the Peanuts characters presence into the mobile, digital, web and social arenas.
“Since taking over ownership of PEANUTS, our overall strategic goal has been to continue to make the brand relevant to younger generations,” said Neil Cole, Chairman and CEO of Iconix Brand Group, which owns Peanuts Worldwide. “In order to accomplish this, we had to substantially expand our efforts for PEANUTS into the digital, web and social categories of our business, which is demonstrated in the initiatives outlined in this first phase announcement.”
Peanuts World Wide’s new initiatives include e-books, digital apps, downloadable graphic novels, more interactive website, Facebook and Twitter, and Facebook applications. They also promise even more to come in 2012.
Capcom, through their subsidiary Beeline, will team up with Peanuts Worldwide to create a freemium game based on the Peanuts characters. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Linus, Pepermint Pattie and many more will be featured in this game due out in the fall. Peanuts Worldwide has confirmed the game will definitely be headed to Android as well as iPhone.
