Man Builds Do It Yourself Andy Out Of Trashcan

Despite whatever Dan Morrill says we refuse to call Andy anything but Andy and especially not BUG DROID….

Now that we have that out of the way, Android Community took a break from hard news this Friday morning to show off a do it yourselfers Android mascot project. An unnamed man in Taiwan built this moving, remote controlled Android robot for around $103US dollars and it took just a weekend to build it.

More after the break

The body is made out of a simple trashcan the man painted Android green.  The guts running this thing are built on the Arduino platform which is a mircocontroller board for developing interactive objects, unfortunately it’s not “Android powered” although with the accessory developer kit and a similar body who knows what someone else may come up with.

This remote control Andy doesn’t actually walk on two feet. The creator put together a full wheel kit that, according to videos found here, enables Andy to travel forwards, backwards, turn around and in circles.
