HTC Desire HD Gets Gingerbread Update OTA From Orange

Although they look very similar and the Android Market actually lists them as the same device, the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Inspire 4G are two different devices.  So while they aren’t twins they could easily be kissing cousins.  They hold about the same similarities as the HTC Nexus One and the original HTC Desire.

European wireless carrier Orange has just released an Over The Air (OTA) update for the HTC Desire HD to Android 2.3, “Gingerbread”.  If you’re an Orange customer with an HTC Desire HD you may want to go to settings and check your software updates. Hopefully you’ll have a Gingerbread man waiting for you for Christmas in July.

Although very similar in specs and body styles the HTC Inspire 4G still needs to wait as HTC works on getting approval for a Gingerbread update by AT&T.  AT&T has taken a more aggressive position towards Android and the HTC Inspire 4G was their first HSPA+ (4G) device so hopefully the Gingerbread update won’t be that much longer.
