As Cameron reported earlier today over 300 people were online to purchase a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 when they went on sale at 12noon today at the Best Buy at Union Square in New York City, of course we were there live to cover the event.
Samsung’s field marketing team was on-hand to do live demo’s of the hot new device. Best Buy had close to 1000 of the Best Buy white edition Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1’s in the 16gb variety. They also had a full line of accessories to go along with the tablet and they gave away leather cases to many standing in the line.
Early unconfirmed reports were that Best Buy sold over 400 Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1’s by 4pm when the private performance started. After the performance Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1’s were flying off the shelves bundled with accessories.
Samsung’s Kim Titus was the MC as he is with most every event they do. Tim Baxter the head of Samsung Electronics in the US and Mike Vitelli President of Best Buy for the America’s handed over a check to Ne-Yo for $25,000 for his Compound Foundation that helps kids in foster and welfare care with mentoring, teaching, field trips, and tools. The check is designed to give computers, mobile phones and electronic equipment to help the foundation.
Of course after the super sexy Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Ne-Yo brought the house down performing his hit song Tonight as well as two others and stayed on to sign autographs for those who were online earliest. He also gave away signed copies of his latest CD “Libra Scale”
