Father’s Day Gift Guide: Android Phones

We’re going to do this years Father’s Day Gift Guide in different parts. First the Android Phones. It’s time to get your pop off his RAZR or his Blackberry and step him up to a nice Android device.  We have picked one device per each carrier.  So please read on and then go get your dad a new Android for Father’s Day, he really deserves it.

The guide after the break

AT&T was a real tough one for me. I love the weight and thin-ness of the Samsung Infuse 4G. The problem is I know for a fact that they have the Samsung Galaxy S II waiting in the wings and if I recommended a Samsung buy for Father’s day it would just be replaced before Labor Day for those geeked out,  must have, don’t care about a 2 year contract rate dads.

Now I know the wives and sons and daughters reading this aren’t too keen about buying a phone at a contract price and then turning around and a buying a phone at the off contract rate.  So if your husband or father is a must have phone guy you’ve got two choices on AT&T. The first choice is to get him a gift card for say $200 and tell him it’s for the Samsung Galaxy S II when it comes out on contract later this summer.

Option number 2, for the Father who wants new tech now, the upgrader from Blackberry and the dad who doesn’t realize that RAZR’s are for shaving…

I recommend the Motorola Atrix 4G. The Atrix 4G is amazingly fast with it’s dual core processor.  The display and visuals on it are amazing. The ability to dock via webtop to a full hdmi dock, a laptop dock or a dock that will replicate a home computer experience at the hotel, now that’s a phone!

I recommend the Motorola Atrix 4G for the “on the go” traveling dad who’s laptop back is getting a little heavy.  I also recommend the Motorola Atrix 4G for the dad who has to have all the bells and whistles to show his buddies.

Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless was almost as tough to pick from as AT&T they’ve pushed out a lot of phones this year so far and have some of the best phones on the market. Their 4G LTE phones are second to none and their 4G LTE service is the fastest 4G available now by ANY carrier.

Now I’ll tell you like it is. I absolutely love my HTC Thunderbolt however, your father or husband isn’t going to like carrying spare batteries, an amzer charger or the weight added by the extended life battery. If he does than YES get the HTC Thunderbolt.

So what would I recommend out of the box? My answer, the Samsung Droid Charge. Now the only reason I even bothered with the paragraph above is because I am not impressed with the thickness of the Samsung Droid Charge, the number one reason being is because Samsung, we know they know how to make a thin phone.

Overall the performance is better, the battery life is much better and in side by side speed tests on the 4G LTE network the Samsung Droid Charge does better. Watch and download movies, games and video chat while on the go. Hey iPhone FanDads did you hear that, video chat while on the go.

I would recommend this for busy dads, workaholic dads, and traveling dads. I’d also recommend it for bragging dads with connected parents. There’s nothing better than filming your son’s baseball game and your daughters soccer game and sending them instantly to grandma and grandpa.  Yup. The Droid Charge is #winning

Pick up a Samsung Droid Charge from Amazon for just $179.99 on a new 2 year agreement with Verizon by clicking here

If you’ve read through the entire post than I would recommend the same gift we said for AT&T customers and the Samsung Galaxy S II however this time go get the gift card from Sprint for $199 and get a card from Hallmark and he only he has to wait until June 24th for the HTC Evo 3D.

The HTC Evo 3D is the follow up to the original HTC Evo 4G.

However if you want an actual present our next runner up is a great device for the business person and it is the Motorola Xprt.  The Motorola Xprt looks strikingly familiar to the Droid Pro or a Blackberry and provides high levels of security to it’s Enterprise users.

The Motorola Xprt feature a full qwerty keyboard on a vertical candybar style phone . The keys are raised so if your husband or father is used to text to feel, on a Blackberry than you’ll be in business.

In addition the Motorola Xprt brings a new profile feature to the table.  With the Motorola XPRT youc an set a “business” and “personal” profile. When you get off work, switch to the “personal” profile and you have all your social media stuff. Then as you head into the office get home screens with quick access to corporate email, stocks, apps, etc.

The price is right too but for more check it out at Amazon for just $99.99 by clicking here

T-Mobile was the easiest. It will be out just in time for Father’s Day. Our pick, The HTC Sensation 4G

The HTC Sensation will be available at WalMart on June 12th and at your local T-Mobile retailer on June 15th. Also, don’t be afraid of a new 2 year contract at T-Mobile.  In the event that AT&T’s purchase of T-Mobile goes through you will be grandfathered into the terms of your T-Mobile contract at AT&T.
