AT&T Sending OTA To Select Devices To Allow Sideloading

Awhile back we heard that AT&T would be loosening up their grip concerning the side loading of applications and while they will be doing so there is still a small stipulation, only certain devices will be receiving this OTA.

The over the air update will be sent out starting today to devices that are on Android version 2.2 or higher and where released after May 15th, 2011. These include:

  • HTC Inspire
  • HTC Aria
  • Samsung Captivate

This OTA could also possible come to the following devices:

  • Motorola Atrix
  • Samsung Infuse

While this update may only be hitting select phones at least AT&T is making a step in the right direction. If you are an AT&T customer and receive the OTA to your Android device let us know in the comments below and make sure to include the device type.

  1. htc inspire 4g dont know when or how because i never recieved an ota update and checked a couple of times through the check update option in settings getting back server errors or simply a message that my software was up to date. I went to the applications settings today to uninstall an app and i magically found the most awaited unknown sources check box!
