As soon as you purchase an Android phone and own for a while you start to realize something: there are a lot of options. Many of these options are things that you must manage on the fly–turn off, turn on– and just when you think you’ve done everything you realize your GPS is running and your phone goes off in class. These are all problems that can be avoided with a simple app called Timeriffic.
Timeriffic is an app that allows you to do scheduling in a way most of us haven’t before. We schedule things like events and holidays, but what about settings. Face it, with Android you have to manage a lot of different settings–and that is a good thing. However, if you do not manage them properly it can result in poor battery life or, for example, a ringer going off in class. Timeriffic allows you to manage all of these things with ease, just as you would set an alarm to wake up in the morning. When you open Timeriffic, after viewing the changelog, you are sent to the main menu, where you can see the different preset schedules that are given: Weekdaze, Party Time, and Sleeping-In. These are all Timeriffic’s way of explaining how to use the app.
You are given many different options to set at certain times, such as ringer volume, Wi-Fi, etc. What is really cool, is that Timeriffic allows you to manage all of your settings, not just Wi-Fi or ringer specific ones, eliminating the need for more than one app to manage your settings. You can set Monday-Friday at 7 a.m. to have your ringer at full volume, Wi-Fi off, and screen brightness at 70%. Then at 12 p.m. Wi-Fi can be turned off, screen brightness reduced to 50% and the ringer muted. In this way all of these setting can be turned on, off, and managed. You can also have different “profiles” set for certain days, even two on the same day, and activate and deactivate the ones that you would like. Profiles give you a way to have and “every other week” type schedule, where you can have certain profiles one week, and a different profile another.
Timeriffic is an awesome app, and it’s robust amount of features are why it is this week’s App of the Week. It’s simple to use and gets the job done. I used to have several different apps to manage my settings, and now all I need is one. I recommend this to every single Android user, especially ones looking to improve their battery life. Timeriffic is in the Market now for free, so it doesn’t hurt to give it a try. Check back to thedroidguy.com every week for another App of the Week by TheDroidBoy.
