Two of the most interesting Android phones we saw when we went to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress were the HTC Salsa and the HTC ChaCha (or Cha Cha Cha). These two devices were the HTC/Android phones with heavy Facebook integration. At the end of their press event in Barcelona HTC revealed that the Facebook phones would be available in Q2.
T-Mobile UK has put up a “coming soon” page for the HTC ChaCha, the Facebook device with the qwerty keyboard. Pocket-lint.com is reporting that the ChaCha will hit T-Mobile UK in June. They haven’t made a reference to the HTC Salsa just yet.
Both the Cha Cha and the Salsa feature 600mhz Qualcomm processors, 5mp rear facing cameras, VGA front facing cameras, and heavy Facebook integration via a dedicated button appearing on the front of both devices. HTC has integrated the “Facebook Button” with Android in such a way that it knows what you’re currently doing with your phone and the “Facebook Button” responds accordingly. For example when you’re taking a picture you can use the button to quickly upload it to Facebook. When you’re listening to music you can click the button and share the artist, title and album info and much more.
There has been no word on the release date for these two devices in the United States.
