T-Mobile Beefs Up America’s Largest 4G Network

T-Mobile continues to show that they are still functioning with business as usual while the people in the background work out the details and regulatory hurdles of the AT&T/T-Mobile merger.

Today T-Mobile announced the addition of 10 new markets to it’s 4G “HSPA+” network. These new markets bring the total to 167 markets and over 200 million people, or “pops” as some carriers like to call them. T-Mobile customers with a Samsung Galaxy S 4G, T-Mobile MyTouch 4G, and Dell Streak 7 can experience 4G Speeds in these newly added markets.

The New markets are: Ames, Iowa; Anderson, Indiana; Battle Creek, Benton Harbor and Jackson, Michigan; Fort Collins-Loveland, Colorado; Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas; Springfield, Illinois and Wichita Falls, Texas.  In addition T-Mobile continues testing their phase 2 HSPA+ which will deliver theoretic speeds of 42mbps download in Las Vegas, New York and Orlando. They plan to offer HSPA+ 42 in Chicago very soon as well as expand the New York market to cover Long Island and Northern NJ.

T-Mobile is hopeful that they will have the HSPA+42 rolled out to 140 million Americans in 25 markets by the end of the year.
