Shell Providing Gas Station Locator App for Android

Shell, the number one gas company in the United States, has been taking into consideration what people want and need. It their latest venture, it seems like they have been listening to me yell and bicker through my car windows, and have now directly answered my question: “Why can’t I just have an app that will tell me where a gas station is? I’m almost on E here!”

Now instead of trying to drive and maneuver my Android smartphone through several different screens just to locate a gas station within proximity, Shell has decided to release a Gas Station Locator app that can do the job for me with two to three screen presses. The press release reads like this:

Whether running low on fuel or travelling a new route, the experts at Shell want consumers to know that they don’t have to settle for second best for their vehicle.  The new “Shell Station Locator” mobile application helps consumers to protect their vehicles even when they’re in an unfamiliar area by locating the closest Shell station. The new “Shell Station Locator” is now live on Apple iPhone and Android mobile platforms in the U.S. and Canada. Consumers can download the application by accessing iTunes or the Android Market and searching for ‘Shell Station Locator.

I’ve recently tested the application, and I can say that the speed at which it located Shell stations near me was almost instantaneous. The UI isn’t much to look at, but it doesn’t need to be – the app does the job, and does it well over 3G; at least in my area, that is.
