Casio’s Ruggedly Designed Phones Come To Android

It kind of looks like an old school Nextel Phone or something from the future. That’s what I first thought when I saw the new Casio Command0 Phone while perusing The Casio G’z One Commando is the next in the line of rugged Casio phones. In fact according to one of our sources at Verizon the Commando can withstand even more water drippage than the Motorola Defy which came out on T-Mobile last year (we can’t wait to test that). Also with Father’s Day in front of us this may be the Android to get Dad for all those fishing trips when he needs his Android apps with him.

In addition to it’s unique look and form factor, the Commando features an 800MHz processor, 512mb of RAM, 3.6 inch 480×800 WVGA Screen made of  Gorilla Glass by Corning (you know the stuff mom makes your favorite caserole in), and a hard durable shell that keeps the dust and water out.  It will roll out with Android 2.2 Froyo and we don’t have reason to suspect it will be updated.

As far as battery life goes, pocketnow is reporting that the Casio Commando could get up to 7 hours talk time, which is rugged in itself.

Android Central is reporting an April 28th release. Are you going to get the Casio Commando or the Samsung Droid Charge?
