Android 2.3.4 Is Rolling Out Now Includes Video Chat Support For Nexus S

When the west coast woke up this morning the team that handles Google’s official twitter accounts got busy. They posted a tweet in the 9am hour that said they had a treat for us later in the day. That treat has been exposed and that is that Google is rolling out an Android update 2.3.4 to those running Android 2.3x

This new update supports video chat for the Samsung/Google Nexus S. In fact the good folks at Google have already uploaded a tutorial on the official Google Blog with text and video instructions on how to do video chat via Gtalk on the Google Nexus S. They also promise to support other devices running Gingerbread at 2.3.4.

More after the break

Google did clarify via twitter that the 2.3.4 update is available to anyone running 2.3.1,2.3.2 or 2.3.3 however it appears that regardless of Gingerbread supported device the Nexus S is the only one with video support. It’s also unclear as to whether the Samsung Nexus S 4G will have that support at rollout on May 8th. We are optimistic that when the kinks are worked out the video support will cross to all devices with the 2.3.4 update.

  1. Did the manual update posted at xda. Video Gtalk works only on wifi. Tests satisfactory tween the S and the GSlate.
