App Review: Automated Away Text

After having been at CTIA this past week I have realized something. Our lives can get very busy. Whether it’s business meetings or spending time with the family, everyone has that certain time where they need a break, not only from our busy lives but from our phones. However, when you get that “break” from your phone you get that horrible feeling like you are being rude to those trying to contact you and you want to find a way to seem like you are not ignoring someone. Automated Away Text is the app for you.

Automated Away Text will cover you when you have to be “away” from your phone. Whether you’re at the gym, work, church, or whatever, this app is exactly what you need. Upon launching the app your are taken to the main menu where you can choose to be “away”. When you are away there are 5 different custom messages that you can choose to be sent out to people. This way whenever someone calls or texts you when you are away, your phone automatically sends them a message explaining why you aren’t around for everyone.

This app is very cool because of the amount of customization it allows. When you enter the settings you can choose whether you want your phone to send a message to missed calls, text messages, or missed calls and text messages. The app also turns your phone completely silent when you are away if you choose it to do so in the settings.  After you finish going through the settings and adjusting everything to how you want it, all you have to do the next time is click

away. When you open the app you can still edit the message to be sent, and as I mentioned earlier you can have 5 custom messages pre-typed at a time. Once you click away your phone goes into “away” mode and a little icon shows up in your status bar telling you that you are away so you don’t forget to turn it off.

The app is very simple and easy to use, and so very helpful to our everyday lives. I have been looking for an app like this for a quite a while now. Everything that I want in an “away” app is here and it is very well executed. Because of the stellar execution the app costs $.99 in the market, and let me tell you folks it is definitely worth it. At this time the app does not support Google Voice but the developer has told me that they are working on integrating it into the app as well. Automated Away Text is a very great app to have, and I recommend it to anyone who can remember a time when they just needed to be “away”.
