The Sony Xperia Play will be announced this weekend at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We reported yesterday that there has been a countdown assigned to the release announcement however we didn’t expect to hear about any carriers this early.
Pocketlint has reported that Vodaphone, Orange and T-Mobile will all see the Sony Xperia Play in April of 2011. At this time the UK carrier Three has been left out in the cold, although Pocketlint suspects that won’t last long.
There is still no word on when we will see the Sony Xperia Play “Playstation” phone in the United States, if at all. We are very hopeful that the Xperia Play will release in the United States however last year the Xperia Mini line never made it to a US carrier and often times we see a whole lot of devices at MWC that don’t make it state side.
We are hoping that all changes next week.
