Samsung Adds Android “Clam shell” Flip to Roster in China

The first Android phone with a more traditional “Clamshell” style flip was released on China’s Telecom’s anycall wireless.  This dual screen device features a small full touch-screen Android experience on the top part of the flip and a full 9 key number pad on the bottom. This will indeed make migration a cinch for those people coming from traditional “clamshell” phones to Android.

If you thought clamshell design might mean inferior specs, think again the Samsung-W899 comes with 2 3.3 inch AMOLED touch screens, Android 2.2, a 5MP camera and a VGA front facing camera. Driving the W-899 is a 1ghz processor and 512mb of internal memory. The W899 also has GSM and CDMA radios.

The W899 will become China Telecom’s flagship Android device. We almost missed this too, it features a backlit HD video camera.
