The 2011 People’s Choice Awards are right around the corner (January 5, 2011) and this year they are trying something new. Call it technological and also a bit “green”, as the winner envelopes are being replaced by specially programmed Kyoceraz Zio Android devices from Sprint.
Kyocera is the official mobile sponsor of the People’s choice awards and no better way to get your mobile device facetime than having it in the hands of every single award presenter. Yasuhiro Ohishi, vice president of sales and marketing at Kyocera Communications Inc. said “While we all love the time-honored award-show tradition of the envelope-opening reveal, this brings that tradition into the twenty-first century and is symbolic of the impact of wireless technology in making entertainment content so conveniently available to everyone, everywhere.”
The awards show airs from 9pm-11pm Eastern Time on January 5 (delayed on the west coast) on CBS.
In addition to the new innovative way of presenting the award winners Kyocera is also gave away an all expense red carpet trip to this years People’s Choice Awards. The winner was Melanie Lockhart of Westfield, Indiana .
