Uh Oh! Samsung and LG Sued by Vertical Computer Systems

A company called Vertical Computer Systems had filed yet another patent infringement suit against manufacturers of Android powered cell phones. The suit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern Part of Texas, names both Samsung, and LG as defendants.

The devices in question are the LG Ally, and the Samsung Galaxy S: Captivate, Fascinate, Vibrant and Epic 4G. Vertical Computer Systems alleges that all 5 Android smartphones infringe on their patents.

Vertical Computer Systems is no stranger to patent infringement. In 2008 the company took on Microsoft for patent infringement. In that lawsuit, Vertical Computer Systems was awarded 1.5M dollars.

Samsung has reportedly sold 4 million of the handsets in question in the United States. Although the LG Ally hasnt done quite as well, LG reported earlier in the week that they had sold 1 million of their Optimus Android devices.
