Nvidia’s Tegra Processor is looking for a successful dance partner in the mobile world. Their first Tegra chip was the processor behind the failed Microsoft Kin poject on Verizon. The dual core Tegra is also the processor behind Toshiba’s 10″ Folio Android Tablet, as Intomobile’s, Will Park, pointed out the Toshiba tablet is actually a big failio.
So now LG is going to give the Nvidia Tegra a new lease on life. Don’t get me wrong the failed Kin and the Toshiba Failio Fiasco have nothing to do with the actual chip. Kin had a horrible marketing strategy and the Toshiba is overwhelmed with little problems such as it’s heavy as heck, it doesn’t have access to the Android Market, the accelerometer doesn’t work properly etc. At one point a Toshiba Spokesperson actually Said “…we’re screwed huh”
LG’s Vice President of Marketing Strategy, Chang Ma said “LG is committed to making it’s Optimus Series, smart devices the defacto standard in speed and graphics performance” and cited that is the reason it has chosen the Tegra chip. The Tegra, often referred to when talking about Microsoft and Windows devices, features a dual-core ARM cortex A9 processor and is coupled with several other co-processors designed to improve 2D, 3D and video encoiding/decoding.
