Samsung Train Running Full Steam Ahead: Samsung Galaxy U

Perhaps I missed something, was there a Samsung Galaxy T? Oh wait! I know what that is….

It appears that the next Samsung Smartphone worthy of the Galaxy branding is the Samsung Galaxy U.  There is a teaser page set up on Samsungs Corporate website, however all of the writing is in Korean and all of the details are in picture files so the handy-dandy Google Translate on Chrome didn’t work. Lucky for we recruited the help of someone who speaks many languages and gathered some details from to reveal these features of the Samsung Galaxy U

  • 3.7 inch AMOLED Plus display
  • 480×800 pixel resolution
  • Android 2.1 Operating System
  • Weight – 131g
  • 1GHz processor
  • Wi-Fi
  • 3G Connectivity
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • 5 megapixel camera with autofocus
  • HD (720p) video recording
  • 3.5mm headphone jack

  • Up to 370 hours standby time
  • 1500mAh battery
  • From what we’ve gathered by infinite minutes of research is that the AMOLED Plus technology fits right in the middle of the AMOLED and Super AMOLED displays, all offered by Samsung.  AMOLED stands for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode what does that mean? It means that the touch screen layer is integrated into the display rather than on-top which accounts for 20% Brighter Screen, 80% less sunlight reflection, and 20% reduced power consumption.

In the Video Below Samsung Vice President of PR, Kim Titus, Talks to The Droid Guy about the AMOLED And it’s affects on battery life:

Now the Samsung Galaxy U that we are speaking of here is not a Galaxy S and doesn’t have the Super AMOLED Screen but it has AMOLED Plus which still has those battery saving and better sunlight, and brightness factors.

It seems from what we gathered that the Samsung Galaxy U is the mid-range of the Galaxy line of smartphones coming out of Samsung Mobile, and if this is their mid-range it still stacks right up to competitors Top of the Line range or “Super” Android Phones.
