Reasons why your PS4 won’t turn on ( Common Causes of this Problem )

In our years with electronics troubleshooting, particularly with Sony’s PS4, it’s important to consider checking the power cable first. A damaged cable or power supply can prevent power from being transferred to the console.

In some cases, a console only needs to be refreshed with a reboot to get rid of a minor glitch.

In some rare cases, the software may be to blame. While this does not always occur, you want to prevent bugs from developing and cause a no power issue on your PS4 console by making sure that you update your console all the time. If you use your PS4 in offline mode only, we highly recommend that you connect it to the internet from time to time in order to get the latest software update.

Time Needed : 10 minutes

If your PS4 is not turning on, you’ll have to do a number of concrete troubleshooting steps, both simple and complicated. Learn what you can do below.

  1. Power cycle the console.

Turn off the PS4 console by pressing and holding the PS4 Power button in front. Then, disconnect the power cable from the back for a few minutes.PS4 Power button

  2. Check the cable.

You want to make sure that you disconnect the power cord from the back of the console and the wall outlet. Then, do a quick check if there’s any visible damage to both the cable and power supply unit.PS4 power cable

  3. Try restarting your PlayStation 4 console to safe mode.

Follow the steps below to restart your PS4 to safe mode. You should do this if your PS4 is stuck but won’t boot up normally. If the console is totally dead or is stuck on black screen of death (no lights), skip safe mode procedure. These are the steps on how to boot to Safe Mode:
-Turn off your PS4. Push Power button in front. It should blink a few times before the console powers down.
-Press and hold the Power button until you hear two beeps: one when you first press and another seven seconds later to hear the second beep
-Connect your DualShock 4 controller with the USB cable.
-Press the PS button on the center of the controller.
If your PS4 console boots to Safe Mode successfully using the steps above, this means that the cause of the issue is most likely software in nature and not a damage inside the console or faulty hardware components inside the power supply . Make sure that you check for updates to fix any possible software issue.

  4. Remove the hard disk drive.

A more serious reason why a PS4 may fail to power up is a hard disk drive issue. This can happen if the hard drive is loosely connected, corrupted, or defective. To check, you can physically remove it from the console. You can check out Youtube videos on how to do this.
Once you have removed the hard drive, try booting the console normally and see if it works. If it turns on without a problem, reinstall it and check for the problem.

NOTE: Keep in mind to only do this solution to fix ( 4 pro playstation ) PS4 not turning on issue if you are desperate or if the console is no longer in warranty. Opening the console by yourself will void the standard warranty so if you break something and you decide to have Sony take a look at the console and get it fixed , they will refuse to do so.
