How to fix Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues | wifi not working

There can be a number of possible reasons for wifi issues on your Huawei P30 Pro. Follow the solutions below to fix whatever problem you’re having.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #1: Powercycle network equipment

If your Huawei P30 Pro seems to be having wifi issues, the first thing that you want to do is to find out if it’s due to a router or ISP-side problem. There’s a number of stuff that you can do achieve that. First, you want to check how your device works when it’s connected to another wifi. Visit your local library or a friend and use their wifi. If your S10 5G won’t have any wifi problem there, that means that you may only be having the issue on your own wifi, or to the one you previously connected.

The second thing that you can do is to restart the router and other networking equipment connected to it. Obviously, this is only doable if you’re the owner of the router, or if you have access to the devices physically. Restarting network equipment is a basic network troubleshooting step so be sure to do so. This is usually effective in fixing network problems, especially if the router has been running for some time already. If you have an issue with your own wifi, be sure to make it a point to restart the router once every few weeks to minimize issues.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #2: Forget wifi

If there’s no problem with the router or your ISP, then the rest of your troubleshooting should focus on your Huawei P30 Pro. First, make sure that you disconnect from your wifi network. Forgetting wifi as a troubleshooting step is often useful when wifi connectivity is erratic.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #3: Check for errors

Are you getting a particular error when using wifi? If you have Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues and there is an error or error message showing up, be sure to look it up using Google. Errors offer clues to fixing a problem. Try to do a quick Google search about that exact code or message to see if there’s a solution that you can do.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #4: Restart device

Restarting a device can sometimes do wonders. Make sure that you forced restart your phone if none of the suggestions has worked so far. Try to do a forced reboot by pressing and holding the Power key for 10 to 15 seconds. If your phone works, it should reboot and you should feel a vibration and see the Huawei logo. In case you do not feel the vibration and the screen is still blank, then simply press and hold the Power Key for more time until you see the device restart itself.

If nothing changes after attempting to reboot the device a few times, you can abandon this troubleshooting and proceed to the next ones below.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #5: Reset network settings

Wifi troubles can sometimes manifest as a result of incorrect network. This doesn’t mean that you personally made some incorrect changes. Sometimes, an app or update can lead to changes that’s not optimal for other apps or for the Operating System. Bad network configuration may occur for a lot of reasons. What you can do now is to ensure that you return all network settings to their defaults so the system can use them moving forward. To reset all network settings, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Advanced settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Backup & reset.
  4. Select Network Settings Reset from the given options.
  5. If prompted, read the warning message and then tap Network Settings Reset twice to confirm.

Allow your device to finish resetting network settings and restore the default values. When it’s done resetting network settings, reboot your phone then reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #6: Install software and app updates

Software and apps updates usually offer fix patch to obliterate existing problems inflicted by random bugs and malicious software. If you haven’t set your device and/or apps to auto-update, then you will need to manually install pending updates. Here’s how to manually check for software updates on the P30 Pro:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap System.
  3. Select System Update.
  4. Tap the option to Check for Updates.

To check for any pending app updates you’ve downloaded through the Google Play Store app, launch Play Store then navigate to the Updates section. You will then see a list of apps with pending updates. Just tap on Update to install individual app updates or tap Update All to update apps simultaneously.

Don’t forget to reboot/soft reset your P30 after installing updates to ensure all new software changes are properly implemented and to prevent any app from going rogue.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #7: Clear cache partition

If wifi issues on your Huawei P30 Pro started showing up after installing a system update, there may be a problem with the system cache. In order to load apps quickly, Android stores frequently used items like website links, images, videos, ads, among others in a part in internal storage called cache partition. Sometimes, these items collectively called system cache may get outdated or corrupted causing performance problems or bugs. To ensure that you phone runs efficiently and the cache in top shape, you want to regularly clear the cache partition (about once every few months). When dealing with any app issue, this can also be one of the troubleshooting steps. Here’s how to do it:

  1. With your phone turned off, press and hold both the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons when the Honor logo appears.
  3. Shortly after seeing the logo, the EMUI screen shows up with the recovery mode options.
  4. Press the Volume Down button to scroll to and highlight Wipe cache partition option.
  5. Then press the Power button to confirm selection.
  6. Use the Volume buttons to scroll to and highlight the next options and Power button to confirm selection.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #8: Check for bad apps

Another possible reason for wifi issues on your Huawei P30 Pro may be a bad third party app. Try to run the device on safe mode and see. Here’s how:

  1. Power off the device.
  2. Power it back on.
  3. Once you see the Huawei animation on the screen press and hold Volume Down button.
  4. You can see safe mode at the bottom left corner once the device finishes booting.
  5. Now that the device has started on safe mode, check wifi and see if there’s a difference.

Don’t forget: safe mode blocks third party apps but it won’t tell you which of them is the real cause. If you think that there’s a rogue third party app in the system, you must identify it. Here’s what you need to do exactly:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Huawei P30 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #9: Factory reset

Some wifi issues have roots in unknown software bugs. Try clearing out the current software settings with factory reset and see if it helps. If the cause of wifi issues on your Huawei P30 Pro are unknown software issues, factory reset may help.

There are two methods to perform a factory reset on your Huawei P30. You want to do the first one first if there’s no problem going under Settings menu.

Method 1: Hard reset on Huawei P30 via Settings

Wiping your phone with factory reset will automatically erase information from your device’s internal storage. The software environment on your device is basically returned to its original form, just like when it left the factory. This means that everything you added to the device like files, photos, videos, and apps will all be deleted. If you don’t want to lose irreplaceable data, make sure to create a backup ahead of time.

There can be many different reasons why a user may want to factory reset a device. If your situation calls for a Hard reset on Huawei P30  and you are able to access your device’s settings menu, then this first method is for you. It’s easier to do compared to the second one below so this is a go-to method for you.

To perform a Hard reset on Huawei P30 via Settings:

  1. Create a backup of your personal data.
  2. Turn on the device.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap System.
  5. Choose Reset.
  6. Tap Reset all settings.
  7. Tap Reset all settings.
  8. Confirm the action by tapping on Reset all settings.
  9. Wait for factory reset to finish.

Method 2: Hard reset on Huawei P30 via Recovery Mode

This method is useful in one particular situation: when Settings menu is not accessible. There may be a variety of reasons why Settings menu may become unreachable. In some cases, the device may have simply frozen or unresponsive. At other times, it can be due to a problem that you are currently trying to troubleshoot. In any case, you must do Hard reset on Huawei P30 via Recovery Mode when the situation forces you to. We still recommend that you use the first method as your primary option for convenience reasons. Effects-wise, the two methods don’t have any difference at all. The device will be completely sanitized and all user data deleted after doing any of them.

To perform a Hard reset on Huawei P30 via Recovery Mode:

  1. Create a backup of your personal data.
  2. Turn off the mobile by pressing the Power key for a few moments.
  3. Press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons for a couple of seconds.
  4. When Recovery Mode appears let go of all keys.
  5. Now choose “wipe data/factory reset.” Use Volume buttons to navigate and the Power key to accept it.
  6. Confirm the operation by typing in “yes” and select “wipe data/factory reset.”
  7. When you see the Google Verification info confirm the operation by selecting “wipe data/factory reset.”
  8. Finally choose “reboot system now” by using the Power key.

Huawei P30 Pro wifi issues fix #9: Repair

If the cause of your wifi issues are unknown and none of the suggestions above help, you should talk to Huawei so they can examine the device. There may be a hardware malfunction or deeper software issues that prevents wifi from working properly. Visit your local Huawei Service Center or store for support.
