Thedroidguy.com was created by Kyle S.  and began as just a twitter and quickly grew to over 73,000 followers. As  the largest independent Android Twitterer in the World, Thedroidguy provides news, information, reliable forecasts, helpful hints and more to his following.  In December of 2009 at the urging of some of the Thedroidguy’s PR confidants we took on a staff and  began blogging with a focus on feature stories, brief laid back how to videos and a target of new android users and enthusiasts alike.  Thedroidguy tries and is pretty successful at not regurgitating stories found on 100s of other android blogs, that’s what the twitter is for.

Thedroidguy has a background in Radio, Djing, Marketing and Wireless. He began his radio career at the age of 12 at Radio Aahs the kids stations and their trimulcast in Washington DC, from there he worked in major and medium markets like Washington DC, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Virginia Beach, Greensboro NC, and more, all the while staying in wireless in at least a part time capacity.

Thedroidguy’s wireless experience includes sales force and management positions at Best Buy, TSR Wireless, Nextel Partners, and Clear.

A note about twitter.

Until recently we used a variety of online analytic tools and a custom interface created for us. In October 2010 we were granted access to the official twitter analytics tool.  The analytics tool told us the same thing the other tools told us as well as three noted authorities on twitter.

We try to maintain an 80% reciprocation rate as a thank you for following us. We generally follow back all active twitter accounts who have posted in the last 7 days of following us.

Our key followers follow us at different points during the day, every day.  Our key followers are spread out with 50% US based and the other 50% spread out across the world  We broadcast our website content along with partners in the Android Alliance and pieces of interest multiple times throughout the day typically on a 1 hour and 40 minute rotation. Some of this comes from programming philosophies derived throughout thedroidguy’s radio career, others from analytics and consultations.
Simply put for twitter users with small home timelines we are a timeline hog. Feel free to list us, search us or favorite us. If you’re using TweetDeck or HootSuite put us in a separate stream so you’re not overwhelmed. However many of our key followers have stuck with us since the beginning and in a recent survey said they would just peruse over tweets that looked like similar content.
