Huawei Nexus 6P Stuck In Google Screen Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Nexus line are devices that Google manages itself. The company is in charge of the  design, development, marketing, production and software updates of the devices in this line. One such device included in this category is the #Huawei #Nexus6P which was released in 2015. This model, which is being manufactured by Huawei, is probably best known as the last true Nexus phone as this line has been rebooted into the Pixel brand. Although this is already an old model a lot of people are still using it because it can still perform quite well and it is still getting software updates. There are however instances when certain problems can occur on this phone which is what we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Nexus 6P stuck in Google screen issue & other related problems.

Nexus 6P Stuck In Google Screen

Problem: Nexus 6p – flashing Google as if to start up, going black and repeating. Have tried holding on/off for varying times – won’t turn on or off. Tried Reboot Reloader – starts flashing Google again Tried Recovery mode – starts flashing Google again. Taken off charger. Past warranty period.

Related Problem: I am having Nexus 6p and hangs in startup Google screen. Recovering mode is also not helping

Related Problem: style=”font-weight: 400;”> Hi: I am having an issue with my Nexus 6P. I was using it early this morning, when all of a sudden it went into a loop of restarting and only show the “Google” screen. I can try to put it in recovery mode but that doesn’t seem to do anything, it just starts the loop over again.  I am running the most up-to-date software.  I am traveling on a flight later and was hoping to have it resolved ASAP. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

Related Problem: Hello, I’m having a Nexus 6P Phone, 2 months back got an update for Nougat. Today morning the phone got switched off and it’s not switching on itself. When i try to start the phone, only the Google Logo appears for 5 seconds and then disappears and repeats the same. Please help. The Huawei customer care people say that we cannot fix it and the ram needs to be changed.

Solution:  Several people experiencing this issue say that it occurred right after a software update to Nougat. If you check on some of the support forums online you will see that most of the consumers who have this problem think that it is the update that’s causing the problem.

To troubleshoot this problem you will first need to force the phone to restart by holding and pressing the power button for at least 30 seconds. If it still gets stuck in the Google screen then I suggest you do a hard reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

  • Turn off the phone
  • Hold the volume down button and Power button simultaneously until the device switches on.
  • You should see “Start” with an arrow
  • Tap volume down twice and the power button to enter Recovery Mode
  • Hold the power button then press and release the volume up button
  • Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset
  • Choose “Yes – erase all data” with the power button

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Nexus 6P Stuck In Boot Mode

Problem: Hi, My phone is stuck in boot up mode so according to your instructions I need to do the master reset.  If I do this – will I lose all of my photos and voice notes etc stored on my phone.  There are things on there I absolutely need to save at all costs.  They’re memories of my father I had recorded before he passed away.  I am willing to pay whatever it costs to recover these.  I am not worried about the phone.

Solution: If you have the auto-sync feature of your phone activated then your photos will automatically be stored in your Google Photos account. Your contacts will also be synced to your Google account.

The data that will automatically be synced are as follows

  • Google Contacts data
  • Google Calendar settings
  • Wi-Fi networks & passwords
  • Home screen wallpapers
  • Gmail settings
  • Apps installed through Google Play
  • Display settings (Brightness & Sleep)
  • Language & Input settings
  • Date & Time
  • Settings & data for apps not made by Google (varies by app)

Your personal files and folders however will not be automatically saved.

If you don’t want your personal files and folders to be erased then you will have to find a way to fix this boot issue without doing a factory reset. Some of the troubleshooting steps that you should consider doing are as follows.

  • Try connecting the phone to its charger then check if the problem occurs. If it doesn’t then you can backup your phone data then proceed with a factory reset.
  • Try to boot your phone in Safe Mode. If you can access this mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps doesn’t work then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Nexus 6P Has Black Screen When Using Camera

Problem: Hi , my nexus 6p has black screen when I am using camera (50% chance). and could not turn on unless I plug it into charger for 1 second (light up the battery icon).I  changed my screen and battery on this device before. Thanks

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the Camera app. This will remove the temporary files of the app which usually fixes camera related problems.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should proceed with checking if a faulty battery is causing the problem by connecting the phone to its charger then checking if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then the battery might already be weak in which case you will need to have this replaced.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s likely that this is caused by a faulty camera module or some other internal component that is failing to work. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Nexus 6P Freezes Not Turning On

Problem: Yesterday (3rd May 17) my Nexus 6P whilst having an app open randomly froze and after a few seconds shut down. Since then until this morning I was not able to turn it on (Hold down Power button) or even get to a recovery mode (via Power Button and Down Volume) at all. When leaving it on charge overnight, this morning (4th May 17) I was able to hold down the Power button but it did not progress further than the initial Google Logo screen and it shut down again. I was able to get to the Recovery Mode and selected to go into Recovery Mode, but on the screen said No Command. Since then it will not do anything at all as it was during the evening of 3rd May 2017.

Solution: Try going back to the recovery mode and if you still get to the no command screen hold down the power button for 3-5 seconds and then press and release the volume up button. You should enter the recovery mode. Once in here you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the issue still persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Nexus 6P Not Charging Or Turning On

Problem: Hi Droid Guy, whenever my phones heat-up I used to keep it in the freezer for few minutes and then it used to cool down. Yesterday I did the same thing but only forget the phone inside the freezer for few more minutes than usual. The device worked normally. But after 7-8 hours it suddenly stopped working. The phone is dead, not charging and turning on. Not even in fastboot mode or recovery.

  • Device info:
  • Google Nexus 6p
  • Android Nougat 7.1
  • Boot-loader Unlocked
  • Rooted (Dirty Unicorn OS)
  • 15 months old device

Any suggestion? Tomorrow I’m going to visit the service center. Thank you.

Solution: Try pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds to force the phone to restart. If the issue persists then clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. If you don’t get any charging indicator then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the issue persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

  1. My phone was stuck on the google logo for around two hours. I got it to the recovery screen but none of the functions would work. I plugged it into my computer, which accomplished nothing because it wasn’t booted enough to read as a USB, only to charge. I got distracted, left it plugged into the computer. The phone got really hot, and then I was able to start it without issue. I don’t know what this means, but i wanted to leave a comment in case this occurs often and you want to include it somewhere.

  2. My phone was purchased from the Google Play store in 2014 and has always worked fine, including with all updates. There have been occasional crashes but I’ve never needed to reboot in recovery mode. I’ve never customised it systems-wise or “flashed” it (don’t even know what that means) or done any of the things I keep reading about (because I’m completely useless technologically).
Today, it went into the Google loop described at the start of this post. The battery was between 70 – 90% charged at the time. I tried to get it to go into recovery mode by pressing down the power button and the volume down button, but although the options were available once I chose the recovery option we went back into the Google logo flashing on and off. I tried charging it for about 45 minutes and powered on and off and tried to boot up again, including into recovering mode, but the same problem happened.

So I found this article and I tried the very first step suggested, by holding down the power button for 30 seconds. Now the phone’s completely dead (no response after 30 seconds, and no response when pressing the power button and the volume down button) and won’t even charge (i.e., plugging it in no longer displays the battery icon). Please help! I have read your article about the 6P not charging or turning on and have left it plugged in and charging. I confirm I’ve checked the power cable (it is the original that came with the handset) and it was working fine less than 15 minutes ago before I took it off to try the suggested step of holding the power button on for 30 seconds.

    Any suggestions? Thank you!
