S7 Edge microSD Card Photos Have Exclamation Mark

Problem: I’ve had the galaxy s7 edge for around 3 months. I have an sd card mounted and use it for all my pictures. Over the last few days when I take a picture and try to view it i get a grey screen with white mountains and an exclamation mark. If I go into my gallery all of my camera pictures are like this. This evening I got an error message that my gallery stopped working, although after clearing the cache it seems to be now. Although still no pictures from my camera. My whatsapp pics are saved to my gallery but pictures I take are not Please help

Solution: What you will need to do for this particular problem is to remove the microSD card from your phone then check it with your computer. You will be needing a card reader to do this.

If the photos  can be read by your computer then you need to make a backup copy of all the photos stored in the card.  Going back to the phone the most likely reason why there is an exclamation mark on the photos stored in the microSD card is due to a software glitch. If this is the case then do the following steps listed below. Make sure to check if the issue occurs after performing each step.

  • Clear the cache and data of the gallery app.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the computer can’t read the pictures stored in the microSD card then chances are the photos have already been corrupted. This is usually caused by a faulty microSD card. You can try to recover these photos by using a data recovery app such as Recuva. I would recommend that you get a new microSD card to avoid having this same issue again.

S7 Edge Not Correctly Reading 64GB microSD Card Capacity

Problem: I purchased the s7 edge and bought a 64gb micro sd card. I installed it and didn’t do anything else. While playing around in settings I found that the card only had 33gb of available space. I never moved anything. Please help.

Solution: You will need to verify the capacity of this microSD card by letting your computer read it.

If the computer detects only 33GB of space available then you should try to format the card as it could contain some data which is taking up some space. After the format check the available space again. If you are still getting the same results then it’s possible that the card has been partitioned. Use the DISKPART command of your computer to remove the partition of the microSD card. It’s also possible that the microSD card itself is faulty in which case you should just go ahead and get a new card.

If the computer can detect around 59GB of free space available ( which is the correct free space for a 64GB card) then the problem could be caused by a software glitch on the phone. To fix this problem follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Problem: My S7 Edge will not read or acknowledge my Samsung SD card. It randomly said my memory card has been disconnected a few days ago and hasn’t worked since.

Related Problem: My s7 edge does not read any microsd card i put in it have tested phone prob still there tried 4 gig up to 128 gig no joy all cards work fine if put in my samsung a3 help please

Solution: For this particular problem you will need to remove the microSD card from your phone then let a computer read the card. If the card can’t be read then it might already be defective in which case you should get a new microSD card.

If however the card can be read then the problem could be caused by the phone itself. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

  • Turn off the phone then reinsert the microSD card. Turn on the phone then check if it is detected.
  • Try starting the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the card is detected in this mode. If it is then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps don’t fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Can’t Decrypt microSD Card

Problem: Hi i read your sd card thread. I have an s7 edge and encrypted the sd card on the s7 edge . Now the s7 edge can’t seem to unencrypt the sd card. When i put it in another sd card reader all of the files are on the card but are not readable?

Select the “Encrypt SD Card” option then tap “Decrypt”. You will need to redraw the pattern or reenter the password/PIN you previously set up.

If you are not unable to decrypt the card using the above steps then try the following steps listed below which should fix the problem.

S7 Edge Recovering Files From Corrupted microSD Card

Problem: Hello I have read through the issues with mini sd and the s7 edge , basically i have concluded that the sd card cannot be read by phone or laptop, so the issue is with the card, is there anyway to get the files from this seemingly corrupted sd card?

Solution: Since the card can’t be read by a computer then it is impossible to recover the files stored in it. If however the computer can read the card then you can use a data recovery software such as Recuva to recover the files stored in the card.
