S7 Not Able To Reply From Text Notification Popup

Problem: I just got the S7, then after a week, it updated. I was before the update able to reply to text from the popup, but now only options are to “close” and Mark as read. It also used to show who the text was from in the popup if I was using my phone (not lock screen). Is this due to the update or something else? Thanks

Solution: You should be able to reply fro the text popup as this option should be included beside the “close” and “mark as read option”. If you don’t have the reply option then this might be caused by a software glitch. Try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it does.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then you might have installed an app in your phone that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Not Showing Complete Text Message

Problem: So I updated my phone last night and this morning I was texting a friend and she sent a rather long text, however, it only showed a small portion of the text and then a view all at the end, I tried clicking on the view all and the copy thing just kept popping up, so I tried message details and it did nothing. She had to screenshot and send me what she said just so I could read it.

Solution: It’s possible that this could just be caused by a glitch in the messaging app. Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager then restart your phone. Once your phone has fully started check if the same issue occurs. If it does then you need to do the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • If the above steps fails then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Duplicates Text Message

Problem: I am having an issue with my texts. I will try to send something and my phone will duplicate the text before I send it. For example I can say how is your day going and it will put that same question three or four times without me touching anything. Then I have to delete it before sending the message. It also does it on talk to text.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do for this particular case is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app as sometimes this app will accumulate some corrupt data leading to issues. Once this is done try checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above troubleshooting steps fails to fix the problem then you should try doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Text Messages Arriving Out Of Order

Problem: Hi,  I followed your steps that explained wiping the cache so that my auto combination would work. It did not fix the problem. I have the auto combination turned on. I also wiped my cache, but my text messages are still coming in multiple texts and out of order. It is extremely hard to read and follow what my friends are texting me.  Any help is appreciated.

Solution: Have you made sure that your phone time and date settings are set to automatic? When it is set this way the phone will get the time and date from your network which should prevent text messages from arriving out of order.

If your phone time and date setting is already set to automatic and the issue still occurs then you should try to check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then this could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the above steps fail to work I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Text Messages Duplicated When Using Text To Speech

Problem: When using speech-to-text voice recognition to send a message (Messenger or SMS), the phone will duplicate the text 4 times. It appears to be trying to find the correct grammar. The phone recently updated its OS. Here is an example: This is simple text I dictated this is sample text I dictated this is simple texts I dictated this is simpletext I dictated This is another text This is another text

Related Problem: I use the voice/ microphone aspect of the messaging app pretty exclusively. This is a new phone and it duplicates 3-4 times what I’m saying. If I give a punctuation, sometimes it does the correct one, sometimes it spells it out all in the same message. I’ve downloaded a different keyboard, but it did it they really as well.

Solution: This issue appears to affect not only the S7 but other Android phone models as well. The problem appears to be originating from the server side of Google and they have announced that they have already worked on this issue.

Try doing the usual troubleshooting steps for this particular issue such as

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then try the step below.

  • Navigate to your Settings Menu
  • Open your Application Manager & Find the Google App
  • Pressing the Top-Right Icon Select to Uninstall Updates
  • Make Sure the Google Update is NOT Set to Auto-Update from the Play Store
  • Restart your Device

S7 Randomly Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: My phone randomly selected which messages I receive and which messages it will send. I hear from people all the time that say they text me and I didn’t get it. Or if they send multiple texts, even if they’re back to back, I might only get 1 out of 2 or 2 out of 3. They all have different service providers and different types of phones. There’s no common denominator.

Solution: For this particular problem you should do the following troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it still does.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
