S5 APN Setting Does Not Save

Problem: Hi there, I have a verizon galaxy S5 that I switched over to metropcs. Its completely activated and working. Everything except mms. I reviewed your forums and a few people had the exact same issue. I went through to my APN settings and added the Metropcs Apn. The issue is, after I type in everything and get to MMC, which is auto set to 260, I change it to 16 for metro pcs. When I press the save button, the phone deletes all the work I’ve done. It only seems to auto delete this IF I change the MMC. I’ve saved it before with the MMC remaining at its default setting 260. Very frustrating. I’ve tried it so many times now, I have it all memorized. Any ideas??? Appreciate what you do. Thanks.

Solution: A lot of people are also having this similar issue wherein they are having difficulty getting the Metropcs APN setting on their Verizon device. One workaround to this problem is to root your phone then do some editing to make sure that the correct APN is set on your device. Please refer to this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-verizon/help/metropcs-t2925767 which provides instructions on how to get the correct APN setting inyour phone.

S5 Trouble Receiving Text Message After Update

Problem: My galaxy s5 updated and now has trouble receiving texts only part of the time from a galaxy s7 and an iPhone 5, I don’t seem to have this issue when getting messages from any other phones just these two and the s7 does this worse than the iphone. No problems sending just receiving. I have done soft resets, cleared cache, etc even called the phone company and had them help to reset my APN settings which helped some but this issue still remains.

Solution: There are several factors that needs to be checked for this particular issue. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do.

App: Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then observe if the issue occurs on this mode. If it doesn’t then an app installed in your phone could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Phone Software: Sometimes a glitch in the phone software can cause this problem. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

Network: In some instances the network could be causing the problem. Try using another SIM card in your phone to check if this is the case.

Finally, another possible cause to this issue is that the problem is generated on the sender’s side. If this is the case then the sender must troubleshoot their device.

S5 Stopped Sending Text Messages

Problem: Help! Several days ago my Galaxy S5 Active just stopped sending my text msgs. It would say “failed” after every one of them. I looked on the internet for answers but nothing worked. i even downloaded everything to my laptop using Kies, did a factory reset, then reloaded the info, but it didn’t work. I’ve cleared the cache which was one suggestion and I’ve even rebooted in the Safe Mode and I did the soft reset. I’ve checked my Access Point Info, but nothing works. What is wrong with my phone? I didn’t do anything that I know of to cause this. It just happened. Please tell me what to do.  Thank you so much.

Solution: Try to check if your phone has the correct message center number. This is the number where your messages are forwarded to before it is sent to its intended recipient.

  • Press Messages.
  • Press the menu icon.
  • Press Settings.
  • Press Text messages.
  • Press Message centre.

If you already have the correct message center number then this could be an account related issue. You should try to contact your service provider regarding this matter.

S5 Default App For Text Attachment Keeps Changing

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone.  As of yesterday, when I try to send a text with an attachment, whatever app I choose – Gallery, Bitmoji, Photos, etc. – becomes the default app and the only one that opens when I want to send another text with attachment.  I have to go into apps and remove “set as default” from it.  Don’t understand why it automatically sets the attachment source I choose as a default app.  Used to have a “just once” or “always” option every time I was going to attach something but since the last update that choice is gone.  Thanks for your help.

Solution: If this issue occured right after a software update then it’s possible that it is caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed during the update. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. I would recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this problem.

S5 Not Receiving Calls From One Number

Problem: I have a phone originally used on T-Mobile, now connected on Consumer Cellular.  It worked well until a month ago… I cannot receive calls from my daughter.  She gets a response saying phone is phone is not in service.  I can call and text her on phone and she can call my husband’s S5. I do not even get an indication on call log that a call has been made.  I have rechecked all call setting, emptied the call cache, and done a factory reset.  I can make and receive calls from all other numbers.     Any help would be appreciated.

Solution: If this issue only occurs on one number and you have already performed a factory reset which doesn’t fix the problem then the problem could be on your daughter’s end. Have her check her phone regarding this matter.

S5 Cannot Send MMS

Problem: I just bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 unlocked and I am using it on T-Mobile.  I cannot send MMS.  Bitmoji won’t work, can’t send pictures on any of the messaging apps.  I use GO SMS PRO, but it won’t work on any of the messaging apps.  I like the phone and don’t want to return it, but obviously this isn’t going to work for me if there is no fix.  Any suggestions?

Solution: Aside from checking if you have an active mobile data subscription another factor that can contribute to this problem is that your phone does not have the correct APN settings.

To access these settings follow these steps.

  • Tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘NETWORK CONNECTIONS,’ then tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names.

S5 Constant Pop-Up Advertisements

Problem: For the past one month I have been experiencing a lot of pop ups of advertisement anytime I use my phone, and it inconvenient me especially if I want to reply a text quickly, watch a video and so on. This is because it sometimes freezes the keypads for a while if the ads want to pop up. I have also observe that anytime I switched the data off this ads pop ups seizes. Please help me to completely do away with this headache. Thanks in advance.

Solution: You might have installed an app in your phone that is serving ads. You can try finding out what app this is and uninstall it. Alternatively, you can just backup your phone data then do a factory reset which will eliminate all instances of the issue occurring again.
