Note 4 No Sound During Calls

Problem: I’m using Samsung Galaxy Note 4, initially it was working smoothly. Now when I try to call, the person on the other side can’t hear me, whereas I hear the loud and clear. So I have to switch on the speaker each time to make a call. Please guide

Related Problem: Hello, My Samsung Note 4 Phone suddenly lost sound for both outgoing and incoming calls. I can’t hear the caller nor they can hear me. Putting on speaker is the same issue. However, if I use other applications like Whatsapp or Viber, I can hear and can be heard on the other side. So mic and speaker should be ok as I tested it with voice recorder. Please help.

Related Problem: Hello , there seems to be a problem when people call me or if I call them they can’t hear me or they’ll hear my voice breaking up. I’ve tried calling from different areas and I cleaned the  inside of the mic a bit to make sure there wasn’t any dust but still no luck. I’ve also turned off noise reduction and nothing has changed. People can hear if me i’m on speaker of if there are headphones in perfectly fine ,but if i tried to do it normally without the headphones or put it on speaker no one can hear me.

Related Problem: Owned this Samsung Galaxy Note for a while now and never had a problem with it, until recently when i make or receive a call, i cannot hear the caller and the caller can’t hear me. i have checked the mic by using the voice recorder on the phone the mic is working. so i am not sure what the problem is.

Solution: One of the first things that needs to be done when you experience no sound during calls is to check that the volume is set to its maximum level. If the volume is already maxed out and the issue still occurs then restart the phone. This allows the software to initialize which might fix the problem. If the issue still occurs even after restarting the phone then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. Try to check if the call problem occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Sometimes a corrupt system data can cause this problem. If this is the case then you should try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • If the issue is caused by a software glitch then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then try to check if the issue is network related. Try going to a different location then check if the problem occurs. You should also try inserting another SIM in your phone or use your SIM in another phone to check if the SIM card is causing the issue.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

Note 4 Stopped Receiving Calls

Problem: My galaxy note 4 has stopped receiving calls. It did so gradually over time, for the last couple months. I can make calls and get good signal, but phone does not ring (used to miss every third call, then half, now i think all calls. Internet is fine and again i can make calls. It also doesn’t show people have called

Solution: What you will want to do first is to check if the problem is network related.

  • Check if the issue occurs in a particular location.
  • Check the signal strength that you are getting from the network. If you are only getting one bar then this might be the reason why you are having this issue.

If the network is fine then it is very likely that the issue is caused by some form of software glitch. You should start the troubleshooting by wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 +1 Not Added To Incoming Call

Problem: Hi, I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 4 unlocked from the Verizon with Cricket Wireless service.  I am facing bunch of issues: 1. +1 not being added to the incoming call: I am getting ALL incoming calls without +1 added (but is only adds +). Due to this, all incoming calls, irrespective of being from contact list, are treated as an international call. The phone doesn’t display the contact person’s name due to this. I contacted my service provider and Samsung both, but none could solve this issue.  I also used bunch of app to manually add 1 before any number or remove + sign before the number but it doesn’t work!! 2. Group messages are not coming, but individual messages are coming well.  This is not iPhone to Android MMS/Group Text issue as sender is also from Android. Please help!

Solution: I recommend that you start the troubleshooting by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the problem still occurs. If it does then it’s very likely that this is caused by an issue with the Verizon software. Several other people who have Verizon unlocked Note devices are also experiencing this same problem when they use the phone in a different network. One workaround to this which appears to be effective is to disable assisted dialing. Go to Settings > Call> other call settings> Assisted dialing. From here delete all the settings then toggle this off.

Note 4 No Reception Bars

Problem: On my Galaxy Note 4 I have no bars of reception, most of the time, while on my Galaxy II I have 3 bars. Elsewhere in my vicinity, i.e., in town, the Galaxy Note 4 works fine.  I live I Tahiti, French Polynesia, and my service provider is Vodaphone. Is the Note 4 simply inferior to the Galaxy II in capture the signal????

Solution: Your phone might have an antenna problem. Do you use a case for your phone? Try removing this as this might be preventing the phone from getting a good signal. You should also try doing a factory reset ( make sure to backup your phone data first) then check if the reception improves. If it doesn’t then this could already be a hardware related issue. You should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 4 Unfortunately Phone Has Stopped Responding Error During Calls

Problem: Since latest update I get an error if I am doing anything on my phone and I receive a call. I am unable to answer or do anything because error message keeps popping up (unfortunately your phone has stopped responding) and all I can do is click ok, but keeps coming back and I quickly have to restart my phone between error messages.

Solution: Since this problem occured right after a software update the best way to fix this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
