The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 is one of the smartphone models out in the market that doesn’t have a user removable battery. While this makes the phone design sleek and solid it makes it difficult to troubleshoot any battery problems without sending it to a service center. Although this phone has a 2550 mAh battery that provides a long usage time there are instances when certain power related problems can occur on the device which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 not working unless plugged in charger issue & other related problems.

S6 Not Working Unless Plugged In Charger

Problem: So I was able to turn my phone on and use it this morning and then I left it on in my pocket while I worked moving some stuff. I took a break and found it was off and tried to turn it on and it took a couple minutes. When it turned on it was fine. Then a couple hours later it would show the Samsung Galaxy s6 active when you boot it up then turn off again.it kept doing this until I gave up. When I got home I plugged it in and it was at 91% so I unplugged it and it immediately turned off. I am unable to use my phone unless it is plugged in now.

Solution: You’ll want to make sure first that the phone software isn’t acting up and causing this problem. To do this just backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then there’s a limited troubleshooting steps that you can do on the hardware side which we have listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris in this port.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could be caused by a faulty battery. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Not turning On After Drop

Problem: Hi there, I just dropped my S6 from about knee (possibly hip) height and it landed flat on its back, in a basic jelly cover on it. It initially went all black with a flashing blue light and the home/back touch keys lit up. It would then be able to be booted up by just holding the home key down for awhile. And then it would work for a bit, randomly turn itself off, no blue lights flashing, and then could be brought back to life. Well… now 3 hours later… it is just the black screen and flashing blue light (it like fades through the different shades of blue light).  I’ve tried holding: just the home key, just the power button, the up volume + power + home, the down volume + power + home. Nothing works! just more black screen and blue fading in/out light. What else can I try? Would that drop from a somewhat small height onto its BACK have caused such irreparable damage??  I hope you guys can help. Thanks

Solution: It appear that the display might have been damaged by the drop. It’s also possible that the drop might have loosened the connection between the display and the motherboard of the phone. Since the device needs to be opened and checked I would recommend that bring this to a service center that does board level repairs.

S6 Only Charges with Fast Chargers

Problem: My galaxy S6 only seems to charge with fast chargers! I have at least 5 different regular chargers at home that charge my husband s7 perfectly fine. However when i plug them up to my phone my phone doesn’t even detect that its charging it doesn’t say anything! But if i charge it with a fast charger it works ! Helpp its soo frustrating.

Solution: It looks like there’s something wrong with the charging port of your phone or with the charging IC. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you have to do for this particular problem.

  • Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first by using a can of compressed air. Make sure to take out any dirt or debris present in this port as this could cause charging problems.
  • Try charging your phone using different charging cords and see if it charges normally.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software.

If the above steps fail then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a hardware issue.

S6 Randomly Turns Off

Problem: My phone will randomly turn off. I don’t believe it has restarted on it’s own. I’ll go to check my phone and it’s off, usually requiring me to press the power button several times to even get a response. I hasn’t been damage. But it is Straight Talk if that matters, ik you cannot get firmware update from these providers. But I just can’t stand it anymore. My phone shouldn’t just turn off.

Solution: The best way to deal with this issue is to check if the phone software is causing the problem. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step should the problem still occur.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Try to check if the phone still randomly turns off. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will erase the temporary system data which could be causing the problem.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after performing the steps listed above the problem still occurs then you should have this phone checked at a service center.

S6 Not Turning On After Overnight Charging

Problem: I left my phone on charge overnight. I woke up this morning; the green fully charged light was on however my phone isn’t. I pulled out the charger and the green light stays on but nothing happens to the phone – just dead 🙁 Please help!!

Solution: For this particular issue I recommend that you simulate a battery disconnect your device. To do this simply press and hold the volume down and power/lock keys for around 20 seconds. Your phone should reboot after this procedure.

If the issue still remains then try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger for at least 20 minutes. After 20 minutes have passed check if the phone will turn on. If it doesn’t turn on then try to access the recovery mode. If you are able to enter this mode then I suggest that you wipe the cache partition of your phone then do a reboot. If this doesn’t work then access the recovery mode again and do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Does Not Turn On

Problem: My samsung s6 suddenly got turned off and couldn’t turn on. tried using charger and it showed charging and led lights also was blinking. I also tried to turn on when connected to the charger it turned on and as soon as the samsung galaxy s6 appeared it turned off. And started restarting by itself repeatedly this is happening if i unplug my charger everything goes off.

Related Problem: i used my phone tuesday night all well placed on charge and left as normal. phone was working ok but when woke wednesday morning phone display would not come up a blue light was flashing every so many seconds. i tried to soft reset with power, volume  buttons but nothing worked later in evening blue light stopped and i now have no access to turn phone on it is just dead

Solution: It appears that there might be an issue with the battery or the power IC of the phone. You should however check if another factor is causing this problem by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding the volume down and power/lock button for at least 20 seconds. If all goes well your phone should reboot normally.
  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port gets removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Check if the phone can start in recovery mode. If it can then I recommend you do a factory reset. Take note that this erases the data stored in your phone.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
