When the #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 was released in 2015 it was considered as one of the best smartphone models of that time. It has a solid and beautiful design which is made mostly of glass and metal, a departure from the company’s previous plastic builds. The first thing that most people will notice on this phone is its beautiful 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. The device itself is quite powerful as it comes with an Exynos 7420 octa core processor and 3GB of RAM. Today, a lot of people are still using this phone as their daily driver without experiencing any major problems with it. There are however instances when certain issues can occur in the phone which we will be addressing today. S6 Turns Off After Switching On
Problem: After turning my phone on it will turn off before it finds the carrier or it’s own number. I’ve tried master resetting partition cache clearing and safe mode those have all failed to help. However pressing on the phone fairly hard seems to work but it’s really annoying to have to do. Is it possible that the sim card is bad?
Solution: If pressing the phone hard makes the issue disappear then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. There might be a loose connection inside the phone or some component is not working properly. Since the phone has to be disassembled to check what is causing the problem you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Screen Not Turning On With Blue LED Light
Problem: Phone is powered up. blue light in upper right. screen will not come on. flashes a blank corrupt looking screen for a second when trying to turn on, charging or just randomly. Tried holding power button and volume up or volume down and nothing seems to work.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to make sure that it does.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
- Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger that have been tested to work on other devices.
- If your phone does not charge using a wall charger then try charging from a computer USB port.
Once the phone has sufficient charge you should perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
If the issue still remains then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Turns Off When Disconnected From Charger
Problem: It was working fine until the last couple days. Originally, my S6 started turning off randomly and taking much longer than previously to turn back on. A safe mode launch helped for awhile but didn’t end up fixing this issue. A reboot stopped the turning off problem but started a two tone “boop” when opening the phone and touching the home screen. After leaving the phone alone for a few hours, it now turns off whenever disconnected from the charger regardless of charge.
Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to first check if a software glitch is causing the problem. To do this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem persists then this could either be caused by a faulty battery or a faulty power IC. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Problem: I was using my phone and suddenly the phone screen went away. Now there is just notification light blinking through whole day. Don’t know what happened suddenly, tried with restart or reboot option but it didn’t worked. Can you help me with it. Thanks
Solution: To fix this problem you will have to do a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If this does not work then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then charge it for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Try starting the phone.
- If the phone does not start then try starting it in recovery mode. From here I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Does Not Charge
Problem: My S6 died, so i plugged it in and it wont charge. The battery with the lightning bolt shows up for about a minute then goes away. It was plugged in all night and i woke up to 0%. It turns on for 30 seconds then dies again.
Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to try cleaning the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
You should also check if the phone charges when it is connected to a computer USB port. In case the phone charges this way then a pin in the charging port might be damaged in which case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
If the above steps does not fix the problem then it’s either the battery is faulty, the charging port is defective, or the power IC is not working. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S6 Keeps On Rebooting After Nougat Update
Problem: I have a Galaxy s6 that has never had any issues in the years I have owned it. I am not usually on wifi but was recently stuck in a hotel which offered it so my phone went crazy downloading updates. I believe nougat was installed and almost immediately for a week had severe lagging issues, force closes, and random rebooting. Fast forward 1 week I go to make a call and it does a random reboot but this time it sticks on the user splash screen. It was like that for 2 days. I was getting ready to flash stock rom via Odin when “poof” I woke up and it seemed just fine, no lagging or anything. Fast forward 1 more week everything is good but it reboots again and is stuck on splash screen again. I have wiped the cache partition both times. I would like to flash back to lollipop without losing data. The only thing I can pinpoint during both scenarios is that the phone was in my pocket on both days and I could feel it heating excessively.
Solution: What you should do first before flashing your phone is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If you phone has a microSD card installed you should also try removing this first. In case the issue still occurs after this then you should consider flashing your phone with the previous firmware version. You can download the old stock firmware of your phone from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash you phone.
Problem: I have a galaxy s6, for a while now I am unable to close apps using that button at the bottom of the screen, also I am unable to use the back button, if i restart the phone sometimes it works for a minute or so but then I’m unable to do it, if i use factory back up will this save all my contacts and pictures? Is this what i should do?
Solution: A factory reset will most likely fix this problem in case the issue is caused by a software glitch. You will however need to backup your phone data using Kies or Smart Switch. In case the problem still occurs after the reset then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
