S8+ Reboots On Its Own Stuck On Boot Screen

Problem: My S8+ started rebooting on its own several hours ago and d it is now locked in the reboot screen an unresponsive to any key or key combination. Please help

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone (if you have one installed) as this card can cause the phone to freeze especially if it has corrupt sectors. In case your phone does not have a microSD card or if the issue still occurs even after removing the card then you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing each step then move to the next one if it does.

  • Simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
  • Try starting your phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occurs in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Check if the issue occurs when your phone is connected to its charger. If the problem does not occur then this could be caused by a faulty battery or power IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center if this is the case.
  • Start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8+ Not Recognizing Password

Problem: My two month old S8 plus was turned off and now does not recognize my login password. I’m sure it is the correct password but down to only 3 more attempts. Really prefer not to lose files with factory reset.

Solution: If you have setup a Samsung account on your phone then you can use the Find My Mobile service to unlock your phone. Access the Find My Mobile website from a browser using a computer then login to your account. From here you can tap on the unlock my screen button which should give you access to your phone.

In case you have not setup a Samsung account then your other option is to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

S8+ Stuck In Downloading Do Not Turn Off Target Screen

Problem: Hi, I have the Galaxy S8+. The phone went into Reboot and it says Downloading Do not turn off Target. It has blue/green screen with a arrow pointing down then says Do not turn off Target. I do thank you in Advance.

Solution: The phone is in download mode right now and one way to exit from this is to turn off the phone by pressing on the power button for at least 10 seconds. Once the phone is off just turn it on again.

In case the phone is still stuck in this mode then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

S8+ Not Sending Text Message

Problem: I’ve bought a new S8+/unlocked directly from Samsung.  Phone will not send an SMS-text.  I can receive texts, but cannot send them.  Also, I can send an MMS or send a picture via text (just sending with text-characters only does not go thru regardless of the texting APP being used (have tried several of them)).  Other than “FAILED”, I get no other error messages.  I chatted with carrier, they tested the SIM card by sending me a text and also by having me put the SIM into any of my older phones.  SIM card will let me send an SMS-text in any of the older devices…….just this S8+ will not send SMS-text.  Have started reading forums about this sort of issue on the S7/Edge and I tried the suggestions listed (including a complete hard-reset of the device).  Appreciate if you have any other suggestions that may fix this.  I will also contact Samsung to see if they are able to help.  Thank you.

Solution: What you need to do in this particular case is to check if your phone is using the correct message center number. This number is unique for each carrier and is required for sending out text messages. To access the phone message center number perform the following.

  • Tap Messages.
  • Tap the menu icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap More settings.
  • Tap Text messages.
  • Tap Message Centre.

Get the correct message center number that your carrier is using then make the necessary changes on your phone.

In case the issue still persists even with the correct message center number then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8+ Reboots Randomly

Problem: S8+ reboots randomly. Seems to happen when I don’t have any data or wifi connection and I’m using the camera. Camera does not seem to cause any problems when I have data or wifi. I use it for work and sometimes I’m in rural areas without data or wifi.

Solution: There are various factors that can cause the phone to reboot randomly which we will be checking by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Connect your phone to its charger then check if the issue occurs. Try using the camera since you mentioned that the issue is more prominent when the camera is used. If the problem does not occur when the phone is connected to its charger then this could be caused by a faulty battery. You need to have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
  • If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If t doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8+ Reboots Randomly Even After Factory Reset

Problem: Phone was shutting down randomly and restarting but now looks like it is restarting but it will not turn fully on and will not shut off.  I tried the soft reset, factory reset and nothing.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then you should try removing this as this could be causing the problem. In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.
