Note 4 Charges Very Slowly

Problem: Last week my Note 4 began charging EXTREMELY slowly and shows to be charging through the USB, no matter what I do.  It would only charge about 20% over an entire night.

In an attempt to fix the issue I have completed the following steps:

– Tried multiple cords (stock and generic)

– Tried multiple chargers (stock and generic)

– Tried multiple outlets

– Reset to factory settings

– Cleared the cache

– Installed a new battery

– Replaced the charging port

After all of that, it still charges slowly and indicates that is charging through a USB.  Any ideas of what else I can try?

Solution: Since you have eliminated every possible factor that can cause this particular problem then it looks like a faulty power IC might be the culprit. If this is the case then you should have this component checked at a service center. If it is found to be defective then you can buy a power IC which usually costs $5 then have it installed in your phone.

Note 4 Restarts When Connected To Power Bank

Problem: Hi there my note 4 kept on switching off even when battery full. Every 10 minutes it switches off automatically. I bought a new battery and problem persisted. I took it to a shop and the shop said it could be a software problem and they factory reset the device. now the problem is no longer. But when i connect my phone to a power bank it switches off and restarts automatically… this constantly happens i have tried using different original cables but same problem still what should i do

Solution: Does your phone only restart when you connect it to a power bank? You should try using a different power bank to check if your current power bank is causing the problem. If the problem persists then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. If this doesn’t fix the problem then you should have the charging port of your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own Battery Needs To Be Removed To Turn It Back On

Problem: Hi! My note 4 problems all started when i had battery issues which drains after an hour of internet usage until such time it turns to download mode without any manual input and restarting on its own. After few episodes of success with pressing power key+home+vol down and wiping cache data, it had an episode of factory resetting itself where all my files got deleted etc. I bought a new battery and had it hard reset to factory settings and after a few days phone screen randomly turns black and restarts (after installing my old apps). Sometimes it just shuts down on its own. It also happened after installing software updates and it didn’t turn on, i have to remove the battery and wait for at least 30 minutes for me to use it again. Now whenever i turn off my phone manually it doesn’t turn back on. I have to do a soft reset (pressing power key for a minute without the battery) before it turns on again. A technician have seen my phone and said i might have a bad emmc. I’ll try flashing with the stock rom prior to having my emmc changed. I badly need your advice.

Solution: You could try flashing your phone with its stock ROM to eliminate any software related issues that could be causing this problem. If the issue persists then before having the eMMC changed have the technician check the power IC of your phone. If the power IC of your phone is faulty then it will exhibit the kind of issue which you are experiencing with your device.

Note 4 Keeps On Restarting

Problem: My note 4 has been restarting itself for the past few days . It then started to reboot on its own. Today it keeps trying to reboot but it can’t complete the process. I have gotten a no command message then it just dies. I have had it on a charger for a couple of hours , but the charging indicator light does not come on at all. Have tried multiple chargers

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge to complete the troubleshooting steps that you will need to do. Since you mentioned that the phone does not charge then perform the steps listed below.

  • Turn off the phone then remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM.
  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Reinsert the battery then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes.
  • If your phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.

Should the above steps fail to charge your phone then you should consider getting a new battery and make sure that this battery has some charge in it. Once this is done proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing this issue. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to work then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file using Odin. You can download the firmware file as well as get the instructions on how to flash your phone from the Sammobile website.

Note 4 Turns Off When Not In Use

Problem: My phone would turn off by itself when its not in use like when i go to sleep or eating even though it has battery . It will be very hard to switch it back on . Most of the time when i try to switch it on nothing happens . Majority of the time when it gets switch on it will be in odin mode . My carrier isn’t what i put its starhub , it wasn’t on the list.

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to check if some software glitch is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem by starting the phone in safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app that you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occur even after performing the steps listed above then you should try replacing the battery with a new one. If this still fails to fix the problem then you have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Not Turning On Or Charging

Problem: Hi, My phone kept having issues shutting down when battery was anywhere between 50% to 17%. I bought a new battery, seemed to work longer and only shut down when about 5% or so…. then it started to act up again, crash for no reason or when opening apps. I tried a fresh reset, and the issue still persists.  Now I can’t even turn on the phone anymore or charge the phone.

Solution: Since you have already replaced the battery and even performed a reset which doesn’t fix the problem then it’s possible that this is caused by an internal component that is failing to work. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
