S7 Edge Screen Is Unresponsive
Problem: My screen is unresponsive. I can “login” with my fingerprint and adjust the volume. The home, power and volume keys work, but nothing on the screen. Ergo, I cannot even reboot the phone. I have tried the vol/down+home and vol/down+ power methods of forcing a soft reboot but no luck, since I cannot turn the phone off to begin the process. All I can do is put it to sleep. I am down to 35% battery, so I hope when the battery is dead, i can plug it in to recharge and do the soft reset. BUT This is the second time I have had this screen problem. Advice? This began today when the screen asked me if I wanted to update the OS and I tried to say “wait”, because I do not have room and cannot get all my photos off. That’s when it froze. I have been delaying the update for weeks.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do right now is to simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. Once the phone has restarted try to check if the screen is now responsive. If it isn’t then I recommend that you perform a factory reset from the recovery mode to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing this problem. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s possible that this is caused by a damaged digitizer. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge My Files Has Stopped Working
Problem: Hi i have just updated to the latest operating system of android. My Files has stopped” When i click on My Files, it keep on saiing : My Files has stopped.. I tried everything in clearing cache, clearing data from APP MANAGER but nothing doing? Wherefore the hell i updated my phone then!!!!
Solution: Make sure to remove the microSD card of your phone first before doing the troubleshooting steps listed below as sometimes the problem can be caused by this card. If clearing the cache and data of the app doesn’t work then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs and if it does you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Edge Restarts Itself
Problem: My S7 Edge is non rooted. I recently noticed that my phone occasionally restarts itself. I think it is a soft reset because it happens very quickly and the only reason I know it has happened is because it will ask me to type in my password on the lock screen instead of being able to use my fingerprint unlock (and shows that it is necessary after a restart). It doesn’t fully rebook like a manual restart though so I can’t figure out what is causing it. Also, I have recently noticed that the applications I have on my Edge Screen will not launch from the edge screen itself. But when I launch them from the home screen (or anywhere but the edge screen) they will open. I have toggled edge screen on/off and it doesn’t help. I have cleared data cache from Edge screen in settings and that doesn’t help either. They do seem to launch for a short while after manual restart but not long, they quickly go back to not functioning. I just have normal apps there. Any ideas? Really want to avoid factory reset so any help you might be able to provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem.
Another factor that you should check is if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To verify if this is the case you should start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode then it is most likely caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above steps fail to work then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
S7 Edge Will Not Unlock
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will not let me unlock the phone. It will not even show the keyboard to type my security code. No matter how many times I try to reset all it does is show the day, date, time and battery percentage. The date it shows is not even correct. It keeps defaulting to Dec 31. It also shows my email notification. It has a purple and blue line running down the sides. Is there any way to retrieve some my information from this phone? Any help you can provide would be very helpful.
Solution: If you are unable to unlock the phone then you won’t be able to access the data inside it. This problem could already be caused by a corrupted phone software in which case you will need to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below. Take note that you will lose any data stored in the phone when performing these steps.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
- If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then you should flash your phone with its updated firmware file using Odin.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Stock Keyboard Lags
Problem: Stock keyboard lags on certain messenger apps e.g. WhatsApp and Viber. It will stay up for over 10seconds after the message has been sent and also the back button will not drop the keyboard and seems to be unresponsive unless pressed multiple times which will exit the app and the keyboard will stay up on the home screen too.i have downloaded gboard and the issue no longer exists but when I go back to the stock keyboard the issue reappears.
Solution: To fix this problem try clearing the cache and data of the stock keyboard app from the application manager.
S7 Edge Not Pairing With Car After Nougat Update
Problem: I have recently got a new phone from the store and it doesn’t pair with my car , it sees the phone, I enter the code and but it will not pair , when I try again it says can not communicate with this device , I tried my old phone with the same software and it worked , I should mention my old phone had already been paired with the car prior to the update to 7.0 , but the new one won’t pair , I deleted all devices from the car and retried my old phone and that won’t work either anymore which is also the same s7 edge , I tried another s7 edge from a friend with 7.0 and his won’t work either, I tried a s5 with 6.0 and it works, I tried an iPhone and it worked, so I’m thinking it’s something to do with 7.0 , I tried all your remedies with safe mode and cache partition and network settings but I believe if these things were the issue it’s unlikely that it would be happening at the same time on 3 s7 edge phones, it’s seems more like a software compatibility issue with 7.0 nougat
Solution: This is a known issue that affects certain versions of the Nougat operating system. Google has already fixed this issue by releasing a minor update on Android 7.1.1. Try checking if a new software update is available for your phone and if it is available proceed with updating your device.
