S7 Edge Only Charges When Connected To Laptop

Problem: hi team, the other day my phone reported moisture in the charging port even though did not come in contact with water. The next day it starts failing to charge then only charging from usb connected to laptop. Connecting to socket does not charge at all, it’s been a day and getting worse. is there a way to just disable the moisture sensor or reset a setting? i really don’t want to hard reset thanks in advance!

Solution: The main reason why the phone will have the moisture detected error is to prevent the phone from being damaged if liquid is present in the charging port and you try to charge the phone. If the phone has not come into contact with water and you have made sure that the charging port is dry ( you can use a hair dryer to dry the port) then it’s possible that some other factor is triggering this error message. The fact that the phone only charges when connected to a laptop USB port might mean that something is wrong with the charging port of your phone.

The troubleshooting steps that you need to do for this particular case are as follows.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
  • Try using a different wall charger.
  • To check if the phone software is causing the problem you need to backup your phone data the do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a malfunctioning hardware component possibly the charging port assembly. You will need to bring your phone to  a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S7 Edge Only Charges When Off

Problem: hi, my phone is samsung S7 edge, and not it keeps restarting on its own every 3 minutes. I tried to charge it when it’s on, but it didn’t work. But then I tried to charge it when it’s off, it works. So is this battery issues? Or firmware issues? What steps should I do? Thanks!

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to eliminate the charger as the possible cause to this problem. To do this just follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. Make sure that these are tested to work with another device. It’s also best if the output power of the charger is 2.0A.

If the problem persists then you will need to check if the phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work possibly the battery or power IC. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Restarts Randomly

Problem: I purchased my s7 edge almost year ago. In april it started to restart by itself. I wiped out the cache. Deleted application and finally did a factory restore but the issue persisted. I went to the retailer they told me it was an issue in the motherboard. I took it to professional they fixed the issue saying it was a power unit. This month the phone started restarting on it’s own again

Solution: There are several factors why a phone will randomly restart which can boil down to two reasons which are a software issue or a hardware issue. There are several troubleshooting steps that you can do for this particular problem which we have listed below.

  • Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it has then I recommend that you remove it as this could cause this kind of problem especially if the card has corrupt sectors.
  • There are instances when an app you installed can cause this problem. To check if this is the case just start your phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a failing hardware component.

S7 Edge Not Charging After Drop In Water

Problem: I have brand new Samsung S7 Edge but i dropped in a ocean and then it work normally. Then once battery gets low then i’m going to charge my phone but its not charging. Still 4 days ago its not charging I am in outside of the country can you help me

Solution: How long was the phone in the ocean and how deep did it go? Although this phone has some degree of water resistance the longer it stays in water and the deeper it goes will break the waterproofing seals of the device. Since the phone is not charging right now then you should perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Check if the phone charges from a computer USB port. If your phone charges this way then the problem is most likely caused by a damaged charging port pin. Have this checked at a service center.
  • You can also check if the phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs after the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have this checked as this is most likely caused by a hardware issue already.

S7 Edge Reboots Randomly

Problem: Hi, my s7 edge reboots randomly and everytime it boots up it feels really hot do you think its a battery issue?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. This card is known to cause the phone to reboot or freeze especially if there are corrupt sectors in the card.

The next thing that you will want to do is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this all you need to do is to start the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step you should consider performing is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
