Note 4 Does Not Power On After Update
Problem: My phone did an update and restarted and never powered back on. I have tried every reset that is listed. I have went to AT&T, three different repair shops. I got a new battery still nothing. I really need to get my pics and videos off my phone, so I can return the phone. Thanks for any help!!!
Related Problem: I did the 6.0 marshmallow update and once it was complete the phone wouldn’t power up north show charging. No lights or anything come on. Bought new battery also.
Solution: The only way you will be able to recover the photos stored in your phone is if you can turn on the device and unlock it. Was the new battery that you got tested to work on another device? If it hasn’t been tested yet then you should first test it to eliminate any possible battery related problems that might be causing this problem.
If the battery is working then you can troubleshoot the phone further by taking out the battery and microSD card. Once this is done press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try turning on the phone. If your phone still does not turn on then it’s possible that
- The power button is defective.
- The phone has a faulty power IC.
Since this is most likely a hardware related problem already I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Not Turning On Gets Hot When Charged
Problem: Hello, my galaxy note 4 just got dead. I cannot power it on not normally not even with tips on your forum (soft reset, hard reset, etc etc) the thing is… when i plug it in nothing shows that it is charging but at the back of the phone at camera area it gets hot. So i assume it is charging but the phone wont turn on .
Solution: It’s very likely that your phone has suffered a short circuit based on the heating issue that you are experiencing. Try replacing the battery of your phone with a new one as the old one might already be short circuited. If the phone still does not turn on and still gets hot when you try to charge it then the problem is most likely caused by a component inside the phone that is failing to work. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Note 4 Downloading Do Not Turn Off Target Issue
Problem: My note 4 did not work well after update in late april. Restarts wont come on have done soft boot and wiped phone back to factory reset. Now have the green Android guy that says downloading do not turn off target and some small writing in upper left hand corner please help
Solution: What you should do first in this case is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. Make sure to remove the microSD card of your phone ( if you have one installed) before performing this procedure. If after the reset the same issue still occurs then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. You can download your phone’s firmware file from the Sammobile website. You can also get instructions on how to flash your phone from this website.
Note 4 Stuck On Boot Logo
Problem: After updating my phone on Monday, May 21st, my phone began restarting repeatedly. I’ve tried removing the battery, deleted unused apps, and even wiping cache partition. Now, my phone will only load up to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 screen. It won’t boot to safe mode at all. I really don’t want to do a factory reset, but I don’t know what other option I have.
Solution: Performing a factory reset is the last troubleshooting step that you should do to fix this problem. The other troubleshooting steps that you need to complete are as follows.
- Remove the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will start normally.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Turn on your phone.
- Connect your phone to its charger then check if then restart your phone. If your phone starts normally then it the problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Try replacing your battery with a new one.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider performing the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset.
- Flash your phone with its updated firmware file.
Note 4 Keeps Shutting Down
Problem: My note 4 keeps shutting down/ recycling on/ off. As long as it’s on charge it works fine even if the battery is 100 % its has to be plugged in to work. I did a factory reset and still having the same problem. This didn’t start happening until after I did a required update for my note 4.
Solution: For this particular issue you need to check if a new battery will fix the problem. If it doesn’t then it’s possible that the power IC of your phone is already faulty. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Constantly Freezes After Software Update
Problem: My phone is facing severe problems after my software update to marshmallow. It freezes constantly, will not respond to my actions. It even restarts automatically. I can’t even attend a call. Please help me out!
Solution: If this problem occurred right after a software update then it is most likely caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. When this happens it will cause a conflict with the new software version resulting in problems such as this. What you need to do to fix this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Also, if you have a microSD card installed in your phone then try removing it as this has been known to cause freezing issues on phones.
