The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7 is one of the best Android smartphones that you can get in the market today. Released last year as a flagship device this model is a vast improvement over its predecessor, the S6 , which it shares a similar design with. What’s different on this phone though is the hardware as well as new features included which has vastly improved the device. For starters there is now a microSD card for storage upgrades. The phone is also now waterproof and dustproof. The best part about this phone for most people has to be its dual pixel 12MP camera which takes amazing quality photos. Although this is a reliable phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 lagging restarts on its own issue after Nougat update & other related problems.

S7 Lagging Restarts On Its Own After Nougat Update
Problem: Updated to 7.0 android recently (TELUS). First I noticed that my phone was asking for my pin a lot rather than fingerprint. Soon after that I noticed that my phone would get suuuuuuper slow, like I couldn’t get off the lock screen as there would be a 4 second delay between swipes and button presses. If I left the phone alone for a while it would restart on its own. Also if I had a alarm going off or something sometimes the screen would just stay black and only turn on for a fraction of a second when i pressed and held the power button.
Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you do then try removing it as this can usually cause the freezing or restart problems that you are experiencing on your device. If your phone does not have a microSD card installed or if the issue still occurs even after removing the microSD card then there’s a possibility that this problem is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This old data when left behind will usually cause a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issues. What you should do to fix this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Stuck In Android Logo
Problem: Good day to you! I hope you can help me with this issue I am having with my Samsung S7 (SM-G930F). This issue started when my phone suddenly froze while I was watching a video saved in my phone memory. I tried to turn it off but it stayed stuck. So I tried to force restart it. But it keeps hanging frozen on the Android logo display and won’t boot up. I tried everything your guide said but the phone won’t respond or boot up in safe or recovery mode. I can’t even turn it off. What should I do? Thank you for your time.
Solution: If you are unable to restart the phone and it is stuck on the Android logo then I suggest you do a simulated battery pull. This can be done by pressing both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Normally your phone will restart after this. If it doesn’t restart or turn off then you will have to wait for the battery to be fully drained and when this happens your phone will turn off. Once your phone is off proceed with charging it. As soon as there is a considerable amount of charge try turning your phone on. If it still gets stuck on the Android logo then try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it. Check if the phone will start.
- Start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend bringing your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Intermittent Charging After Nougat Update
Problem: Hi guys. I updated my Galaxy S7 to the latest Nougat a couple of days ago and it hasn’t charged properly since. When I connect the charger it acts like I’m constantly taking it out and putting it back in again, and doesn’t gain any charge. However when I turn the phone off it charges fine, which seems to suggest it’s not the charger or a mechanical problem. Any advice please? Thanks
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular issue is to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Next, use a different charging cord when charging the phone. Make sure that this cord works well with other devices. If the issue persists then try using a different wall charger.
If the above steps don’t fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset to check if a glitch in the update is causing this problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S7 Charges Very Slow
Problem: Hi. I have a brand new s7 and it is charging super slowly. It took 4 hours the first time and now from 40% it has taken 2 hours to get to 64%. This is way slower than my s5. NOT IMPRESSED.
Solution: Are you using the charger that came with your phone? If not then try using it as this has been designed to work properly with your device. If you are using the stock charger and it still charges very slowly then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Try using a different charging cord
- Try using a different wall charger.
If the issue still persists and since this is a new phone then you should have this checked at a service center or return it to the store where you got it from.
S7 Doing Soft Reset Without Removing The Battery
Problem: I would like to do a soft reset on my S7, but it would void the battery, waterproof warranty. Is there an app, or a good way to do this without taking out the battery?
Solution: Just press and hold both the power button and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. This is what’s called a simulated battery pull.
