Note 4 Not Charging After Software Update
Problem: Installed latest it’s update for Galaxy note 4. N910UXXS2DQC4 /N910UTNZ2DPJ1/ N910UXXU1DPF1. My phone will now not charge when I plug in any charger. Tried rebooting and it comes up with “installing system update” then a picture of the Android not lying on his side with a red triangle in his stomach and the words “no command”. I’m guessing a failed update install. How do I fix this?
Related Problem: Hello, I have samsung galaxy note 4 and today it asked me to update my software. I have never had any problems after update, so after updated phone will not charge. Phone used to charge normally never had this issue before since I got updated
Solution: The first thing you should do in this case before troubleshooting the phone is to check if the charger is causing the problem. To do this follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air.
- Try using a different charging cord when charging your phone. This cord gets broken easily and is one of the main causes of this kind of problem.
- Try using a different wall charger.
If the above steps fails to work then it’s time to check the phone side.
- Since you are getting the Android picture with a red triangle then the update might not have successfully installed. Try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
- Try replacing the battery
- If the reset fails to fix the problem then you should consider manually flashing your phone software with its updated stock firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which will also contain instructions on how to flash your device.

Note 4 Shuts Off With Battery Life Left
Problem: My Samsung galaxy note 4 randomly shuts off while it could have anywhere from 40-80% battery life still. I have factory reset the phone and replaced the battery but still the same issue.
Solution: Since you already replaced the battery and even performed a factory reset which unfortunately doesn’t fix the problem then this could very likely be caused by a bad power IC. You need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Not Fast Charging
Problem: hey i have Note 4 N910C,the notification panel of device does not show the fast charger or cable charger.i uncheck and then again checked the fast charging option but nothing happens, i also wipe the cache but nothing. so what i do next.
Solution: The problem could be caused by a faulty charger. What you need to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Next, try replacing the charging cord as this cord gets easily damaged and could be causing the problem. You should also try using a different wall charger. Make sure that this charges has an output rating of at least 2 Amps.
If the problem persists then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Try replacing the battery of your phone.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if a software glitch is causing the problem.

Note 4 Randomly Turns Off
Problem: My Note will randomly turn off. To turn it back on I have to push the volume down and power key. I have tried to get into the back door via volume up home and power button I get message as follows. Do Not Turn off target!! Is there any hope that this can be fixed?
Solution: There are two things that you can do for this particular problem. First, you need to do a factory reset. You can do this from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If this fails then the next step is to try to flash your phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can get the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.
Note 4 Gets Warm And Freezes
Problem: Hello This issue is specifically for the Note Edge (the first one ever – The option was not available below so I tried to choose the closest). I am having an issue with the device powering on AND trying to wake it from idle (once it gets going) it will freeze and become unusable (sometimes with a blinking light, sometimes while charging, but the common denominator is that it seems to get warmer and freeze for no apparent reason). When the issues started I decided perhaps the update is what’s needed – with no change. I ordered a certified refurbished Note Edge and the same issue is now going on in the new phone(which hasn’t been updated and is still running 5.0 even though I don’t think it makes a difference with respect to this issue). My attempt(s) with NO change(s): -Updating Operating System to 6.0 -I have tried every push X,Y,Z combination on the internet.(both legitimate and non-legitimate “fixes”.) -I have reset the phone 3 times(factory restore) and cleared the cache partition even more. -I have cleared the RAM (when on) and killed running applications, as well as internet, bluetooth, location and enabling power saving mode. – I have two other batteries which I have tried(I usually use a ZeroLemon). – I have tried all of the above with AND without the removable micro SD card (Sandisk Ultra 32GB) – I have tried all of the above with AND without a charger connected. – I have had the sim card replaced. – I have tried controlling/watching the temperature At this point I cannot say I expect too much because I have yet to come across anything like this on the internet. Just to reiterate – I have had one Galaxy Note Edge which acted as described above, leading me to ordered another certified refurbished model (thinking it was the motherboard) and now the same issue described is taking place in the new phone. My thoughts are this has something to do with a malfunctioned software-update-attempt, which has now corrupted the operating system – yet this seems improbable especially occurring on both phones with no other individual reports. My second thought is that this corruption is the case and somehow the phone has been “bricked” (also seems improbable but not impossible through other means(according to reports)). To answer perhaps the next logical question you may be pondering: I have NEVER rooted either phone, nor made any attempts whatsoever to do so. This brings us to my current timeline – whereas I am trying to have the operating system firmware re-flashed by a professional. It seems improbable – but this is the only solution I can think of which remains. When the phone is left alone (sometimes for a few hours – 10 minutes doesn’t work) (with the battery out), it will restart and boot back up as if all is well (not every time, it’s very random) – But by midday (which the phone is majorly idle) it will freeze and not return from idling. For further clarification, this is light use throughout (no games, streaming or process heavy applications). Dare I say you guys may have your hands more then filled with this issue.
Solution: It looks like the only troubleshooting left to do is to flash the phone software. You should consider flashing the phone with its latest stock firmware file.
If this still fails to fix the problem then it’s possible that this is already a hardware related issue. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Does Not Charge Above 60%
Problem: My phone does not want to charge pass 60% or so and it will get super hot and drain the battery. I’ve bought four different batteries and it does the same thing. I’ve done a reset and it still hasn’t fixed the problem.
Solution: You should try using a different charging cord and charger to charge your phone. This allows you to check if the charger is causing this problem. If the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem possibly caused by a defective charging IC. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Note 4 Not Turning On After Falling On Floor
Problem: My Note 4 was working fine. I went to the bathroom and went pulling up my pants it fell out of my back pocket onto the floor. After that it didn’t work. I took the battery out and put it back it in and it turned on. The note 4 screen came on. The Samsung screen and the red Verizon screen. The blue light is on at top left. After the red screen the phone shuts off. You can feel the vibration.
Solution: For this particular problem you should try charging your phone first for at least 20 minutes. With the charger connected turn on your phone. If the issue still occurs then try to do the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Remove the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed) then press and hold the power button. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on the phone.
- Check if the phone cant turn on in recovery mode. From here I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by an internal component of the phone getting damaged by the drop. You will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
