S7 Refuses To Charge

Problem: Hi, My S7 is currently dead and refuses to charge. It recognizes that the charger is ported it since it shows the battery icon with the lightning bolt but it never gains any battery life. When i try to do a system reset by holding down the Volume Down and Power button, I will see it attempt to do a reset and show “Installing system update” with a large white ring above it, but after a couple seconds return to the battery icon with a lightning bolt in it. I woke up to this problem after charger my phone overnight. Before i charged it overnight, the phone had 2% battery life. I’m not sure but it may have had a system update very  recently.  Can you please help me figure out on how to fix my phone? Thanks

Solution: The phone seems to be affected by two issues right now. First, it is unable to charge. Second, it is attempting to install a system update which seems to be unsuccessful.

What you should do first in this scenario is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. To make sure that this happens perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Your aim is to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port which could cause charging problems.
  • Charge your phone. If the battery life does not increase then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone is able to charge from a computer USB port.
  • If you have a wireless charger then try charging your phone this way.

If your phone does not charge at all then you will need to have this checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.

If your phone charges then you should attempt to turn it on. In case the phone still gets stuck in the installing system update screen then you should try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this doesn’t fix the problem then I suggest that you do a factory reset also in recovery mode. Take note that this procedure will erase your phone data.

S7 Not Charging Unless Powered Off

Problem: Galaxy s7 wont charge unless phone is powered off.  Any suggestions?  I tried all relevant suggestions on your list except for removing the battery which I don’t think I can do.  Thanks in advance!

Solution: Right now what you should do is to try using a different charger and charging cord to check if the charger you are using is causing the problem. If the issue still remains then this looks to be caused by a malfunctioning power IC. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S7 Not Turning On After System Update

Problem: Taken new S7 galaxy yesterday. a notification came for system update so done complete downloading .when i woke up early morning my hand set was not working , no indicator while charging , no sound . performed reset but not working . (vol down+power ) button

Related Problem: Started upgrade and turned phone over. When I returned the phone is non responsive. No lights, no screen, nothing even when plugged in. Tried different reboot modes and got nothing. Any ideas?

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this kind of issue is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Try charging your phone first by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes with a charging cord and wall charger that is known to work.
  • If your phone does not charge using a wall charger then try using a computer USB port.
  • If you have a wireless charger you should also try charging your phone this way.

Once your phone has charged attempt to do a simulated battery pull first by simultaneously pressing and holding the power and volume down button. Your phone should restart after this.

If the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Charges Very Slow After System Update

Problem: Recently did system update and now charging is very slow even on fast charge setting

Related Problem: My phone takes so long to charge very very slow. I’ve tried everything stated in the troubleshooting but of which work what else can I do or try?

Solution: The first thing that you should check is if the issue is caused by the charger. Are you using the original charger that came with your phone? If you are then try using a different charging cord with it as this cord gets easily damaged. You should also clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air before charging the device as dirt or debris stuck in this port can also cause the phone to charge slowly.

In case the issue persists then it could be caused by old software data that has not been removed during the update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software resulting in this issue. To fix this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Process System Not Responding

Problem: i keep seeing process system not responding on my s7 i factory reset i hard reset i did it all nothing is working i even flash my phone same problem i need help and this is the third time it has happened the last time happen i keep resetting it and it work fine for a week then same problem again

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you do then this could be causing the problem. Try removing it first then check if the issue still occurs.

If you don’t have a microSD card installed or if the issue still occurs even after removing the microSD card then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Freezes Does Not Turn On

Problem: i was playing a game and my S7 just hanged. the app wouldn’t exit and i pressed the off button. it wont power back on.

Solution: Try simulating a battery pull by pressing and holding both the power button and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t restart then I suggest you charge your phone first for at least 20 minutes then repeat the same procedure.
