S5 Screen Blacks Out After Unlocking

Problem: Hello, I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy S5 device. Recently it has a problem with the screen. First it started with the flickering screen on low level light. Soon after that it got worse because when the screen lock is on and I want to unlock, as soon as I press the power or home button I can see the light of the lock screen flashing up and immediately blacks out. And it does not come up unless I take out the battery, reinsert it and restart the device (sometimes I have to do this twice). What shall I do? Is it fixable by resetting my phone or shall I take into for repairing? Thank you for your help in advance. Kind regards

Solution: If the problem is caused by some software glitch then this can be fixed. Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to do for this particular problem. Perform each step then check if the issue still occurs. If it still does then move to the next step.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware issue. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Touch Not Working After Phone Got Wet

Problem: Dropped phone in water. Stopped sensing touch. Did hard factory reset. Did Not fix. Replaced touch screen and digitizer. Still doesnt work. What would be the next step to try and get any parts fixed to get it working. P.s. it’s a galaxy s5 mini. Not sure which android version.

Solution: If you have already replaced the display assembly and the issue still occurs then the problem could be caused by a damaged touch IC. Since this is soldered on the motherboard you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S5 Screen Is Black And Unresponsive

Problem: My phone screen is completely black and unresponsive. It shows that it is on bcos the light is showing when I plug the charger in. I have tried taking out the battery and reinserting it, followed by plugging in the charger several times but no luck. I’m trying to save my unsaved info into my samsung kies but I cannot unlock my phone due to the screen being black

Solution: Try starting your phone in Safe Mode and check if the screen works in this mode. If it does then you can backup your phone data from here. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then one other troubleshooting step you can do is to try to access the recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your phone from here.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then it’s very likely that you will need to have the display assembly of your phone replaced. I recommend that you have this checked first at a service center.

S5 Unfortunately System UI Has Stopped

Problem: I recently downloaded an app. Ever since i download the app my samsung galaxy s5 wont let me screenshot anything a thing just pops up saying “unfortunately, system UI has stopped” and won’t go away until i get out of the app and clear ot from my recent apps.

Solution: Try uninstalling the app that you installed as this could be causing the problem. If the error message still occurs even after uninstalling the app then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Gallery Icon Frozen

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. The gallery icon has gone rogue and there is only half of it showing on the far left side of the screen as though someone sliced it in half. It is frozen so I can’t slide it over to the screen or up to delete. It’s just sitting there smugly. Any ideas?

Solution: Try restarting your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should try clearing the cache and data of the gallery app. If this still fails to work then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that you will have to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S5 Keeps Switching Apps

Problem: Hi, I’ve read through lots of help pages for my new galaxy s5, but have seeing nothing describing what mine is doing. It flips from the column of small apps open to the large screen of the app I’m trying to use very quickly and repeatedly….so quickly that I cannot even use the phone or any app. It’s like flashing back and forth between these two screens. Any suggestions? Thanks so much if you do !!!

Solution: You should first check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first before doing the reset. If you still experience the same issue after the reset then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.
