What happens in this case is that the phone constantly shuts down on its own then powers right back up. S5 Keeps Shutting Down Turning On
Problem: My Galaxy S5 keeps shutting down and comes back up, and shuts downs, and comes back up. I have to take the battery out to shut it down. I wait a while, put the battery back in, and turn it on. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it keeps shutting down and coming back on. What is wrong? I can’t even make calls. I do not know if I have a lollipop version.
Solution: What you will need to do in this case is to first check if some glitch in the phone software is somehow involved in this particular issue. To do this you need to follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it still does.
- Try to check if the issue occurs when you start the phone in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded since only the pre-installed are allowed to run in this mode. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the software troubleshooting fails then you have to proceed to the hardware troubleshooting. Unfortunately in this case what you can only do is to check if the battery is causing the problem by replacing it with a new one.
If the problem still occurs even after replacing the battery then this could already be caused by a faulty internal component. You need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S5 Freezes Not Turning On
Problem: hi i have a Samsung galaxy s5 my phone kept freezing then all of a sudden screen went blank and top left corner a msg appeared in yellow red and blue writing i couldn’t really see what it said as i didn’t have my other glasses on, it wouldn’t let me get back to the normal screen so i took the battery out waited put it back in and nothing not turning on at all.. please help..
Solution: For this particular problem you should first remove the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed) of the phone. Next, press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on the phone.
If the phone still does not start then you will need to charge the device for at least 20 minutes. If you are not getting any charging indicator on the device you need to do the following.
- Try replacing the charging cord and wall charger
- Try replacing the battery with a new one.
If the phone does not charge then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
If the phone charges then you should try starting it in recovery mode. From here you need to perform a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.
S5 Not Charging Using Wall Charger
Problem: My Samsung galaxy s5 was charging fine but stopped at 59%. It now does not recognise any wall/plug charger showing as someone else described the battery charge an electric sign but now green filling and staying like that for around 6 seconds disappearing and repeating process. It will however charge via usb using cable that don’t work for plug charge without issue albeit slower. Samsung were no help and said send phone in
Solution: It looks like you could have an issue with the charging port of your phone. Try cleaning this port using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Next, try charging the phone with a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue still occurs then try replacing the battery with a new one.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a damaged pin in the charging port. You need to have this checked at a service center.
S5 Randomly Shuts Down Does Not Restart Unless Battery Is Removed
Problem: Hi there, Hoping you can help with my Samsung problem – I’ve not come across this problem in any other blog or website so far. Problem is, my Galaxy S5 mini will just randomly shut down while I’m accessing it. Only way to restart it, is to remove the battery first, then start up as normal. Without removing the battery, it won’t restart. It only happens when I’m working on the phone, not when it’s not in use. Regardless of battery charge. It has happened while accessing various apps – whatsapp, snapchat, email, gmail, calendar, maps – there really is no trend in when or which app. I do get the feeling though, that it happens most often when I’m most demanding of the phone and possibly “going too fast”…if there is such a thing for a phone! I may enter whatsapp, then quickly tap back, back again, and then tap on gmail. Like it’s too much processing for its small brain to handle, then it shuts downs! Other times, I simply dial someone and it dies before connection. Or I move the camera from portrait to landscape and it shuts down. Not always though – no consistency in what is causing it. I also need to allow it some time after battery out, battery in, restart…if I use it too soon after restarting, it will shut down almost immediately again. And I restart the process of battery out, battery in, start up. It used to be my husband’s phone – he never had any issues. Within a week of me having it, it started happening. So I thought it was an app, but I can’t figure out which one. Thought it was the SD card as I moved that over from my old Samsung (which experienced the “Camera Failed” error) – removed it for a week but the problem persisted even without SD card inserted. Possibly something to do with the dimming effect? It’s happened a lot in bright daylight… but I’m possibly grasping at straws now! Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Solution: What you should do first in this case is to check if this problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software. To do this you have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step which is to replace the phone battery with a new one.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked since it’s possible that this is already caused by a faulty power IC.
S5 Needs To Be Unplugged And Replugged From Charger to Charge
Problem: Galaxy s5 is having a charging issue. When plugged into charger it begins to charge then hits a point and no longer charges. Then if unplugged and replugged into charger, charging commences again.
Solution: For this particular issue you should first try to clean the charging port using a can of compressed air as dirt or debris stuck in this port could be causing this problem. When charging the phone you should also try to use a different charging cord. This cord gets easily damaged especially if it is constantly coiled or bent and the one you are using could already be defective.
Other things that you should try if the issue persists is to use a different wall charger and replace the battery with a new one.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you might need to replace the charging port of your phone. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
