S5 Can’t Send Or Receive Text Messages

Problem: Hello there i have an s5 and i cant send or receive text messages i’ve already cleared the cached data and all what else can i do to fix it

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to check if you are able to make and receive calls as well. If not then it’s either the phone isn’t getting a good signal ( in which case you should try to go to a different location which has a good signal) or there is an issue with your account ( in which case you have to contact your service provider).

If the problem you are experiencing is only on the sending and receiving of text messages then try the following troubleshooting steps listed below. Perform each step listed below then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then move to the next step.

  • If you have access to another phone then try to insert the SIM of the S5 to this other phone. Try sending and receiving a text message. If the issue remains then the problem is either caused by a faulty SIM or an issue with your account. Contact your service provider regarding this matter.
  • With your SIM card inserted in the phone start the device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Verizon Model Does Not Send Or Receive MMS When On Straight Talk

Problem: Just bought a vzw s5 to run on straight talk. I bought one for my husband as well. Same thing, mine is white his black. His works fine everything works. Mine will not do mms messages. I also do not pull up a place to edit my apn unless I search it. If I set mine exactly to husband’s apn, my Internet turns off. If I leave the bearer settings to unspecified it will allow me Internet but still no mms. Straight talk is no help, big surprise, please help me!

S5 Not Receiving Messages After Software Update

Problem: I just updated my phone, now it won’t receive messages. I have soft and hard reset, and I have factory reset but to no avail. I simply cannot figure out the problem and it’s becoming an issue

Solution: If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then you should contact your service provider regarding this matter and have your account checked. There might be a network issue in your area right now or there could be some problem with your account.

S5 Not Sending Or Receiving Pictures With Text After Software Update

Problem: My Galaxy S5 updated, and now I can’t recieve pictures with text and I can’t send pictures with my text

Solution: The APN settings of your phone might have changed during the update process. Compare the APN settings that your phone has with the one your carrier is using. If needed make the necessary changes in your phone.

  1. I have a verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 and have Consumer Cellular (CC) as my provider. Have tried both a T mobile and an AT&T SIM card, as they run on both those network, and cannot receive MMS or picture messages with the default message application. My husband has same phone, only black in color, but he gets both MMS and pictue messages with no problem. I have set my phone to the same settings as his and I still cannot receive MMS or picture messages and get failure notices when I try to send a picture message. Spent over two hours on the phone with CC support and they say all my mobile network settings are correct and the APN is correct, that is must be a phone setting or phone problem. WE both get poor signal at our home but have tried in area with full signal bars and still cannot receive or send MMS or picture messages.
