Note 5 Touch Screen Won’t Work

Problem: This morning I was using my phone just fine and then I installed the upgrade and now my touch screen wont work.  Any suggestions on how to fix it?  I have done a hard shutdown and a factory reset already. Unfortunately I do not know what my operating system is.

Solution: Since you mentioned that this occurred right after a software update then a factory reset should have resolved the issue. Since the reset fails then you need to verify if the update is causing this problem by manually flashing the previous firmware version to your phone. You can download the firmware file for your specific model at the Sammobile website. Instructions on how to flash your phone are also provided in the website.

If the issue still occurs even if you have flashed an older firmware version to your phone then this could already be a hardware related problem. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen Is Purple

Problem: The screen of my note 5 have become purple all most all of it …. the touch works fine but the screen colour is purple completely abt 80% … only the top side of the screen looks good (10 -15%) .. and the rest of the screen is whole purplish… plzz help me .. i didn’t drop it neither any other issue

Solution: What you should do first is to determine if this is caused by some form of software glitch. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if the screen is still purple. If it isn’t then this could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in this mode then you should proceed with a factory reset. Don’t forget to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then this could be caused by a faulty display assembly. You will need to have this checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

Note 5 Keeps Flickering Opening And Closing Multi Window Tab

Problem: My Galaxy note 5 keeps saying it can not work in split screen mode, I lost the s pen and it keeps flickering and opening and closing the multi window tab. Recently the screen hasn’t been working, I can not select anything on there how do I did this problem?

Solution: For this particular problem you will need to go straight to doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Try to use Smart Switch to backup your phone data. If after the reset the problem still remains then this could already be a hardware related issue. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: My samsung note 5 won’t let me touch the screen with my finger but the pen will let me. Is there any other way I can get my screen back so I can touch it with my fingers

Solution: It looks like the digitizer of the phone is faulty which is why you can’t use your fingers to operate the screen. In this scenario you should try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to check if it’s just caused by a software glitch. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this is most likely a digitizer problem already. You will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that the whole display assembly will have to be replaced since the digitizer is fused to the display.

Note 5 Display Interchangeability With S7 Edge

Problem: Are the digitizer/LCDs interchangeable between the note 5 and S7 edge? They are the same size but would it work?

Solution: They might have the same size and shape but you won’t be able to use the S7 Edge replacement display on a Note 5 and vice verse.

Note 5 Screen Is Black

Problem: Blue LED light stays blue but the screen is black and when i try holding down the volume and power button, the screen gives a little flash from the right side of the screen. I did drop it with my case on so i don’t understand why that happened. What can i do?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular problem is to simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally, your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try charging your phone first for at least 20 minutes then turn the phone on. If it still does not turn on then try starting it in recovery mode. From here you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Forgotten Screen Lock

Problem: I set a screen lock & thought was my daughter bday but nope. I have tried every password i have ever used. I do not want to do factory reset due to the unusual problem that my father’s funeral pics & him with my daughter as a baby will not back up. Plus his voice mails can not be saved not even by Sprint. Please help me unlock my screen. I went to android admin did nothing, Samsung find my phone nothing. Please help.

Solution: From the lock screen you can tap on forgot password. You will then be prompted to enter the Google account details, username and password,  to unlock the phone.

If you have forgotten the Google account password then you can recover this by accessing your Google account from a computer. Just click on forgot password when you are prompted to enter the password. If you have setup a security question then you will be asked these questions after which you will be able to gain access to your account.

Note 5 Stuck In Optimizing Apps After Software Update

Problem: I did a manual update today, so the phone is now stuck on a screen with a greenish background that has 2 gears icons rotating and it says Android is starting… Optimizing app 31 of 37

Solution: Try to restart your phone. If the issue remains then wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. One last troubleshooting step to consider in this particular case is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
