Note 4 Stops Charging

Problem: I woke up one morning and my phone just stopped charging out of nowhere. I don’t know if the battery is the problem or if the charging port inside my phone is the problem. I’ve had this phone for about 3 to 4 years. I’m really confused because it could be both. I just ordered this new charger and it doesn’t work to my phone for some odd reason. I plugged it in and got no response. It could be the charging port or it could be the battery? I just need help knowing which one is it. Or is it both?

Solution: The best way to proceed in this case is to try to check the charging port of the phone first by cleaning it with a can of compressed air. You should make sure that any dirt or debris that could be present in this port is removed. Once this is done try charging your phone. Try using a different charging cord that is known to work if your phone still does not respond to charging.

If the issue persists then you should try to use a new battery on your phone as the battery could be causing this problem.

If the above steps fail to work then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. Some of the possible causes of this problem are as follows.

  • Defective charging port
  • Defective charging IC
  • Defective power IC

Note 4 Screen Turned Black

Problem: Plz help…I was using my galaxy 4  and while on Facebook went to kitchen and put tablet down…after making coffee I picked it up to open device and nothing…black screen…I see that it is on and not black as in it is off but can’t open lock screen ..turn it off…restart or anything…it’s just black/green screen. There is no battery from what I can see or if there is no way to get to it….what’s happening? Can you help?

Solution: The first thing you should do in this particular case is to restart the phone by removing its battery. Follow the steps listed below to successfully remove the battery.

  • At the back of the phone , find the notch on the upper left edge of cover then gently pull the battery cover off.
  • Locate the notch in the lower right corner of the battery then lift the battery out.

Once the battery is out press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then try turning it on.

If the issue persists then try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this fails to fix the problem then do a factory reset in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

Should the above troubleshooting steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Is Dead Won’t Start

Problem: my note 4 has gone completely dead won’t start even with a working battery. before going dead used to start and go off on its own. then after sometime went completely dead. service centre not able to find reason. so say have to replace motherboard which is very costly. pls help out.

Solution: If the battery has already been eliminated as a possible factor in causing this problem then it’s very likely a component of the motherboard is failing to work, possibly the power IC. Try to bring your phone to another service center that specializes in board level repairs. You might save some money by just having the defective component replaced.

Note 4 Will Just Shut Off

Problem: For no apparent reason my galaxy note will just shut off. It could be at 100 percent . Then it tries to come back on. But gets stuck going on off on off until I take the battery out or plug it in. Sometimes taking the battery out works but lately it hasn’t been. Also the other day something popped up saying content hidden. And went away

Solution: The first thing to consider in this kind of issue is if the phone software is somehow causing the problem. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to check if this is the case. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it does.

  • If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this phone only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If troubleshooting the phone software doesn’t fix the problem then you should try replacing the battery with a new one. If this fails then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a component inside your phone that is failing to work.

Note 4 Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hello. My phone continue to restart even the battery is being charged in 90s. This happened yesterday when i replaced a new battery and now i inserted my old battery but same issue. Also the phone goes off when i try to reset it back to the factory, delete caches. It also says at the bottom in red that dm verity verification failed. Can anyone please help me with the issue. THANKS

Solution: The dm verity verification failed error will usually appear if the EFS folder and its contents has been corrupted. This folder contains important information regarding the phone such as its IMEI. The best way to fix this problem is to flash the updated stock firmware file to your device. You can refer to the Sammobile website for instructions on how to flash your phone. You can also download the official firmware of your phone from this website.

Note 4 Shutting Off On Its Own

Problem: Dear team, I have Samsung Note 4. The phone has recently started shutting off by itself without interference. I remove the battery waited for quite some time re-installed the battery and powered it up. I did this for quite several times but still the problem. persist. Is there any way that I can reinstate to its previous condition? Please give me on ways that I can do. Many thanks

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it. You should also check if the battery is somehow causing this issue by connecting the phone to its charger then checking if the issue still occurs.

To check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem you should perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is ( usually the app you recently downloaded before the issue started) and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Randomly Shuts Down

Problem: I could be doing something on my note 4 and it will randomly shut down and there can loads of charge on it i have been in safe mode nothing happened there factory reset it cleared cache but still shuts down and it can take a while to get it to switch back on PLEASE HELP ME I STARTED WITH HAIR NOW BALD

Solution: If a factory reset does not fix the problem then you should try replacing the battery with a new one. If this doesn’t work then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this could be caused by an internal component that is failing to work.

Note 4 Charges Very Slow

Problem: Here’s what I have: 2 note 4’s, 4 different adapters, 6 different cords, 1 phone was factory reset to attempt a fix, but had no change Problem: both phones will NOT fast charge via cord and adapter by ANY wall outlet or rather its very, VERY slow (12+ hours still = NO full charge) or connects then quickly disconnects and stops charging unplug and replug back in gets the same result At least the NON factory reset phone WILL charge via a USB to a computer (haven’t tested the other yet) any ideas?  I can’t believe ALL my cords and adapters have gone bad. also i have forced reboots, pulled batteries, used different batteries, bought NEW batteries, cleaned port with can of air, etc.

Solution: The problem could be with both of the phones that you have. There might be something wrong with the charging IC or the charging port. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Screen Won’t Turn On After Timeout

Problem: After software update, the screen wont turn after screen timeout or when it’s turned into a sleep mode after hitting the power button

Solution: Since this problem occured right after a software update then it could be caused by some form of old software data that has not been removed during the update process. To fix this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
