Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Can’t Send Text With Picture Issue & Other Related Problems

In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy Note 4 can’t send text with picture issue & other related problems.

Note 4 Can’t Send Text With Picture

Problem: I have the Samsung Note 4.  When trying to attach a picture or multimedia, I get a pop up asking if I want to send being it sends only the picture and not the text message.  I have done a soft reset, just got new updates yesterday.  this has been going on for months.  I looked under the drop down box where it says “schedule and it has todays date and a time.  I don’t want to schedule.  Help please

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. Once you have made sure of this the next step is to disable the VoLTE setting of the phone. Several people experiencing this very same issue resolved the issue by turning off this setting.

  • Tap Phone > Keypad tab.
  • Tap More options > Settings.
  • Tap Call > Voice over LTE settings.
  • Tap  Do not use VoLTE.

VoLTE allows you to make voice calls over the LTE network instead of the 3G or 2G network. This allows for HD calls to be made however for some reasons it also affects the way picture messages are sent.

If the problem still occurs even with the VoLTE setting disabled then I suggest you proceed with a factory reset. Since this will erase your phone data you should make a backup copy first before proceeding with this step.

Note 4 Text Messaging Has Become Slow

Problem: My texts have been very slow and freezey (that’s a word).. I have tried deleting a bunch at a time and that just freezes my text app even more. I’m curious if I clear the cache will I lose all of my text messages? I don’t wish to lose them all but would like for my messages to stop freezing my phone.

Solution: When you clear the cache and data of the stock messaging app this will only delete the temporary data of the app then revert the app to its original settings. Your text messages will not be deleted. Since the app now appears to work slowly then the first thing you must do is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app. If this fails to fix the problem then you should proceed with the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Stuck In Roaming Mode

Problem: I bought a unlocked at&t phone and I have cricket wireless, but I have had a note 3 without the issues I am having now. The phone always says an R at top for roaming and I have called cricket and they say my signal is good. But if anyone tries to send me a picture text the phone will not download the pic or emoji , and I tried turning off wifi and the phone shows can’t download in roaming. So frustrating…..I have turned the roaming off but it still shows the R at the top as roaming.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to make sure that the roaming setting is deactivated.

  • Go to the Mobile Networks setting
  • Tap on more networks
  • Tap on mobile networks
  • Press on Data roaming to turn it on or off. Make sure that the setting is off.

If it is already off but you are still getting the roaming sign then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If after the reset the problem still occurs then you should try replacing your SIM as this might be causing the problem.

Note 4 Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi, I really need help with my Galaxy Note 4 text messaging app. For the last few months I’ve been having trouble receiving text messages from people. I’m able to send and they receive them but I sometimes only get half their texts they send me or sometimes I don’t get any at all. Even when I send photo attachments they receive the images really late. Can you please help me out? My carrier is Verizon

Related Problem: I am randomly do not receive texts. At first i thought it was only from iPhone users, but that’s not the case. The majority of them are regular texts, nothing that would require a download or a lot of space.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to restart the phone. This resets the phone connection to the network and usually fixes this kind of problem.

Another factor that can cause this problem is the network. Does your phone get a good signal from the network? If it doesn’t then this might be the reason why you are not receiving text messages.

Should the issue still occur then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Try checking if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Call Drops When Making A Call

Problem: Hello! When I initiate phone call, call drops after 1 and a half mins. The bars for signal disappear and I get the circle with line block. A few seconds pass and the signal comes back. This happens with every single call I make. If I receive call from someone else, it’s fine. Thank you for your time.

Solution: The first thing you should do in this case is to check if the issue occurs when your phone is started in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Another factor that can cause this problem is the network mode that’s set in your phone. Try changing the network mode and check if the issue occurs in any of the modes set.

  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘NETWORK CONNECTIONS,’ then tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Network mode.
  • Tap one of the following desired band settings:LTE / WCDMA / GSM (auto connect) (LTE setting),  WCDMA / GSM (auto connect), WCDMA only, GSM only (2G only setting)

There might be one mode wherein the problem will not occur.

One last troubleshooting step that you should consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Call Can’t Be Heard By Recipient

Problem: When on a phone call the person on the other end can’t hear me. I have already done a factory reset as well as did a voice recording. The voice recorder will Play back so the microphone oa fine it’s just the phone calls.

Solution: You should try using another SIM card in your phone to check if the problem is caused by the SIM or network. If the issue still persists then you should bring the phone to a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.

  1. Following the advice above to locate the VOLTE setting – however my Note 4 does not appear to have the same settings. Is there an alternative to turn off this option. Thanks!
