S6 Edge Wouldn’t Charge
Problem: Good Afternoon, My Samsung Galaxy S6 edge was working fine yesterday. Today when I tried charging it, it wouldn’t charge and the LED indicator wouldn’t flash as it would normally. I tried holding down the volume key, home button, and the power button and the screen did turn on, but indicated a software called Custom OS. I came the choice to reset it by pressing the volume down key, so I did so and it rebooted and shut down I tried repeating the process, but now my phone doesn’t do anything. Please Help. Thank You.
Solution: The custom OS means that the phone has detected that it is not running on its original firmware. This phone might be rooted and running on a custom software. This however should not prevent the phone from charging since even if the phone is running on a custom OS it should still be able to charge. What you will want to do then in this case is to eliminate the possibility that the charger you are using is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
- Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
- Try using a different wall charger.
- Check if the phone charges using a wireless charger. If it does then the problem could be caused by an issue with the phone charging port. If this is the case you should have it checked at a service center.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then try doing a simulated battery pull. To do this just press and hold both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.Your phone should restart after this. If the problem persists then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center.
S6 Edge Not turning On After Drop In Toilet
Problem: Hi. My girlfriend dropped her phone in the toilet yesterday and although it didn’t go off straight away it did eventually. Straight away she was able to do anything on the touch screen. She has tried to dry it out in a bag of rice and also with a hairdryer. When the hair dryer has finished it does work for a little while but goes off after about 30 mins. Would you have any suggestions as what we could do? Would opening the back up be the best option?
Solution: It looks like this issue is caused by water entering the phone. Since you have already dried drying the phone by placing it in a bag of rice without any success then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center so that the exact component that is failing to work can be pinpointed. I would not suggest that you open the back portion of the phone yourself unless you have experience in doing so and have the proper tools to check the internal components as you might cause more damage to the device.
S6 Edge Turns Off When Using Snapchat
Problem: I was on my phone using snapchat when my phone just turned itself off out of nowhere on 94% battery. I kept trying to power it on but the furthest it goes to is the samsung logo and then switches off again. I’ve held the power key, volume key and home button to restart the phone but it still gets to the samsung logo and switches off again. There is also a blue LED at the top of the phone that hasn’t stop glowing since it turned off yesterday morning.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery is charged. Connect your phone to its charger for at least 20 minutes. Make sure that the charging indicator in your phone is present. If you don’t see any charging indicator then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using ca can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris present in this port gets removed.
- Try using a different charging cord.
- Try using a different wall charger.
If the phone does not turn on then try accessing the recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest that you perform a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before doing this step.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Not Powering Up Not Charging After Getting Damp
Problem: hi, i was recently caught in a rainstorm and my phone was in my pocket. my phone was damp when i removed it from my pocket but not soaking wet. now it wont power up or take a charge. i’ve tried both soft and hard resets but it wont respond. i’m hoping you guys can help me fix this as i still have 12 months to run on my contract and no phone. many thanks in advance
Solution: Try placing your phone in a bag of rice first for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done check if you are able to charge the phone. Check also if the phone turns on. If the issue still persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as some internal component in your phone might be water damaged.
S6 Edge Turns Off By Itself
Problem: Last night my phone (galaxy s6 edge) just turned off by itself it wasn’t being used..it turned back on, but stayed in the galaxy s6 screen for about 20 minutes. It started heating up and i tried charging it and pressing the power button but nothing worked it kept heating. Until it went black again!!now it wont turn on nor charge it’s just dead!! Is there something i can do about it??
Solution: You will need to make sure that the battery has enough charge first to power up the phone. Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air first making sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Next, charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If the phone can be charged then turn on your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset from here. Make sure to have a backup copy of your phone data before doing this step as it will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Dropped In Water
Problem: I accidentally dropped my phone in water, i immediately pulled it out and dried it. I took out the sim and checked the sticker, it’s still white, so that means the phone hasn’t suffered water damage. However, the phone isn’t coming on when i try to power it.
Solution: Even if the sticker is white there is still a possibility that water has entered the phone. For this issue I recommend that you place your phone in a bag of rice first for at least 48 hours. This rice will absorb any moisture that could be present inside you phone. Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes before turning it on after the 48 hour period. If the issue remains then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Works Only When Plugged After Getting Wet
Problem: Dropped the phone into the toilet. Got it out and dried it out. It worked when plugged in but unplugged – no. Just turns on and off continuously. Went to a service shop and they suggested a new battery but that didn’t help. Not sure what operating system as it won’t let me check.
Solution: The problem could be caused by a faulty power IC or other internal component in the phone. I recommend that you bring this back to a service center and have it checked.
