S5 Screen Will Not Remain Off

Problem: Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy s5, and my screen will not remain turned off. Have tried the screen settings but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to try to set the screen timeout to a lower setting.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Display.
  • Tap Screen timeout. …
  • Select an option such as 15 seconds
  • The screen timeout period has been set.

If the issue still remains then the next step is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this you need to start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S5 Blank Screen With Notification Sounds

Problem: I have a blank screen. I can hear all the startup sounds and see the blue light when a message is received. The screen is completely blank so I’m unable to start in safe mode. Any help would be appreciated, thanks Droid guy

Solution: It looks like your phone might have a defective display assembly or display controller. Try checking if the issue occurs even in recovery mode. If it doesn’t then this might just be caused by a glitch in the phone software. You will need to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the screen remains blank even in recovery mode then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Flickers Becomes Hot

Problem: I have a S5 and the problem is that whenever I put my brightness all the way down the bottom of the screen starts to flicker and the phone starts to heat up and it’s getting annoying I’ve been trying to find a solution but nothing works and I was wondering if you could help me

Solution: The best way to deal with this issue is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty display assembly or display controller. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S5 Flickers When Turning On

Problem: The phone flickers when i try turning it on. I found out its because of the cold. But it isn’t even that cold outside. When i warm it up for a few mins then it works normally again. When i wake up in the morning to check the time (after leaving my phone alone for a couple of hours) it flickers. Im assuming its because it cooled down again. What do I do?

Solution: This looks like a hardware related problem already however there are still a few troubleshooting steps that you can do which we have listed below.

  • Try turning off the auto brightness switch of the phone then set the brightness to its maximum level.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then this could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Don’t install anything in your phone after the reset instead check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Flickers At Low Brightness

Problem: It seems that I have two problem. The first one is that on low brightness my phone start to flicker in a yellowish green light. The other thing is that if I turn off the screen it flickers, the image comes up, but it doesn’t start. No matter how many times I try to unlock my phone it won’t start, and when it does its random.

Solution: Regarding the first problem you should first try turning off the auto brightness setting of your phone then check if the screen still flickers. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by the sensor trying to adjust the screen brightness level.

If the issue still occurs then try checking if an app you downloaded is causing the problem by checking if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then you need to find out what app is causing this issue and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. This will also address the second issue that you are having with your phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Flickering Even After Factory Reset

Problem: my galaxy s5  is flickering after full charge. i did factory restore but same. can you tell me how to try safe mode? or what else can you advise me?

Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset then there’s no need to start the phone in Safe Mode. This could already be a hardware related problem in which case you should bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Has Pink Vertical Lines

Problem: Hi there My Samsung galaxy S5 have this pink vertical line all the the time now. How can I get rid of it?

Solution: Try to check if these lines appear when the phone in started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t appear then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If you still see the vertical lines even in Safe Mode then try backing up your phone data and do a factory reset. If after the reset the lines still appear then the phone might have a damaged display assembly. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
