S5 Only Charges When Off
Problem: So my phone charge if it’s turned off. I’ve tried a lot of solutions you guys have shown taking out the battery put in it in safe mode none of that helps I have to turn off my phone for it to charge when it’s on it doesn’t recognize that it’s plugged in I tried using a different cord that is used for my mom’s Android and it didn’t recognize that either
Related Problem: my Samsung s5 goes off when not in use or while making call unless it is on speaker it wont charge unless I turn the phone off and the flashlight automatically comes on most of the time this started when I used a short cable to charge the phone. pls help thanks.
Solution: Listed below are some of the other troubleshooting steps that you need to do for this particular issue.
- Try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Sometimes dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once the port is clean try checking if the problem still occurs.
- Try using a different charging cord and charger. You should also try charging your phone using a computer USB port.
- Try replacing the battery of your phone.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could be caused by a defective charging port assembly. I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Freezes Keeps On Restarting
Problem: i purchased an unlocked samsung galaxy s5 active off of amazon a week ago. it’s been working well, until last night. when i went to bed, the screen was frozen–i couldn’t use my pattern to get to the home page and couldn’t turn it off–the screen didn’t darken. i got up hours later in the middle of the night, and it was still on. i took the battery out and left it to cool off. when i put it back together later that evening, it worked ok for a little while, but then kept restarting itself–within a couple of minutes, over and over. i took out the battery again and left it that way for 6 hours or so (while away from home). i then put the battery back in, it worked for a little while, and then started restarting again. i, again, took the battery out and left for a little while–maybe half an hour or so. when i put it back in (back at home), it worked fine for 3-4 hrs, but then started acting up. i’ve looked at some suggestions, but it won’t stay on long enough for me to try and fix anything. if i put it in safe mode, i can’t use my pattern to unlock the home page. often, even if i can unlock the home page, it begins restarting very quickly. i will keep trying tonight to get enough time to back everything up and do a factory reset, but not sure if that will work.
Solution: Does the issue occur when the phone is connected to its charger? If it doesn’t then you should try replacing the battery with a new one. If the issue still occurs even with the phone connected to its charger then I recommend that you do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this step.
S5 Not Turning On After Left to Charge
Problem: My phone was working the night before. I put the phone on the charger before I went to bed and the phone wont turn on. Went into the store and they tried charging the phone on a cordless charge and the phone wont charge. I don’t know if the phone has a viruses?
Solution: It’s very unlikely that this issue is caused by a virus since the phone should still charge even if it is off. When your phone is off no virus can work since it only works when the phone is turned on. To troubleshoot this problem try replacing the battery of your phone with a new one. If the issue remains then this could be caused by a faulty internal component possibly a power IC that has become defective. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center that specializes in board level repairs.
S5 Only Starts Up To Samsung Screen
Problem: Omg so my phone just went off for no reason I tried to turn it back on nothing happened so I took the battery out and tried again nothing happened It begin to come on get to the Samsung screen and go right back off so I did a wipe/factory reset nothing so I tried it again now I’m confused because all my phone is doing is coming on and going right back off can anyone help me help myself??
Solution: Since you already tried doing a factory reset which didn’t fix the problem then the next step is to try replacing the battery with a new one. If this still fails to work then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work.
S5 Red X On Battery Icon Not Charging
Problem: I recently did a soft reset to fix the red x on battery icon…worked for 2 days. Now I have done a hard reset a soft reset removed battery etc THE red x is back and will not go away. I replaced battery and have tried different chargers. it the said use original charger… I am using original charger and still have A RED X and about to have no phone since will not charge. What else could I even possibly do.
Solution: It’s either the charging port assembly of your phone is faulty or the charging IC is not working. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Gets Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: Updated the new OS Marshmallow software and since the software has been installed my phone when switch it on it gets stuck on the samsung logo and flashes a blue light. I have removed the battery and done the 30s holding of power button but the problem still occurring. Please help
Solution: If this issue occurred after the Marshmallow update then you will need to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.
