Note 5 Charging Icon Pops Up Even When Not Connected To Charger

Problem: I have a Samsung note 5 and have been having issues with it for a few weeks. It started with the phone beeping and having the charger circle pop up constantly when the phone was not connected to a charger. This made/ makes the phone unusable. Also while trying to use the phone in anyway the screen flickers black and freezes. I’m at my wits end to the point where I will not buy another Samsung. It also did a factory reset twice after being turned off and turned on again.

Solution: The problem is most likely caused by a defective charging port since you have already eliminated any software related causes by doing a factory reset. To troubleshoot this problem try cleaning the charging port using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Only Shows Blue Light When Charging

Problem: Hi, The Droid Guy.  I honestly have dropped my phone too many times, but I am hoping for some good news because after taking my phone to a repair shop, it would cost more to fix it than the phone is worth.  I have charged my phone, but it only shows one blue light at the far left of the screen.  It vibrated a few times after I held the volume down and home button down.  I tried a few more troubleshooting steps with holding down the volume up button, home and power button simultaneously, etc., which caused the vibrating to stop but now it is just showing the light and is on my charger.  I am wondering what is wrong with my phone and how it can be fixed. Please help.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is attempt a battery pull by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. This forces the phone to restart. If you get no response from your phone then try charging it for at least 20 minutes by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris found in the port.
  • Charge your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.

Once you have changed the phone for at least 20 minutes try turning it on. If it doesn’t turn on then try starting the phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Battery Draining Fast

Problem: I have a note 5 and has battery issue i think I recently reset it and charged it to 100. There are no apps and no sim in the phone. Still when I woke up the phone was off. I charged it again and it got to 100 by around 6pm then it was at 49 at around 10 that’s when i put it in ultra power saving mode. I checked my phone in the morning after putting it in ultra power saving mode and it was off again. Is this an issue with my battery or there’s something else?

Solution: It’s possible that the battery of your phone might be weak already and not able to hold its usually charge. It’s also possible that some internal component inside the phone is failing to work causing this problem. Either way, since this is a hardware related issue, I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Frozen Does Not Start

Problem: Hi. my samsung galaxy note 5 had frozen then i read about an article where someone had the same problem. i did as it was instructed , i held the power buttons and the power button for 7 seconds then the screen went off. i’ve tried switching it on but it has refused. i’ve also put it on the charge and i’m now waiting for it to charge for like some few hours. i have no idea what the problem is so please help me.

Solution: What you need to do first in this particular issue is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris found in the port.
  • Charge your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger for at least 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes and with the phone still connected to its charger try turning it on. If it doesn’t turn on then try checking if it turns on in recovery mode. If it does then you need to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this action erases your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Only Charges If Phone Is Off

Problem: My note 5 was purchased in Malaysia and is now used in Australia.  Recently when the battery runs down and the connect to charger message appears I plug the charge cable in it does not detect the charge connection and does not charge however if I shut the phone down and plug the charge cable in it does charge.  the phone also comes up with a pen detached message regularly with no apparent reason as the pen is still attached.

Solution: Try using a different charger when charging your phone. Make sure to also use a different charging cord. It’s best if you use the Adaptive Fast Charging charger of Samsung to charge your device. If the issue still occurs then you need to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.  If this doesn’t fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Battery Draining Fast

Problem: My Samsung galaxy note 5 battery life drains fast it will be a 100% now and if I go for about 20 minutes it’s at 50% and it’s very new I bought like a month ago. When I put it in power saving mode the screen goes black and white. Please help me out.Thank you!

Solution: Try to check if the problem occurs when you start the phone in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any app in your phone just yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you need to have the phone checked at a service center.
