Note 4 Does Not Charge When Phone Is On

Problem: The phone is not charging when the phone is on and the charger is plugged in but when I turn off the phone and plug the cord the charging icon flashes on and off but does not light up to show the phone is charging. If I turn the phone on with the charger plugged in it does not indicate the phone is charging and no charging icon shows up. How do I fix as the phone clearly charges when powered off.

Solution: You should try checking first if the charger is causing this problem. Try charging your phone using a different wall charger. Make sure to also use a different charging cord. Before charging your phone make sure to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air to remove any dirt or debris that could be stuck in this port.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a faulty battery. To check if this is the case you should try using a new battery on your phone.

One last troubleshooting step that you can do is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem. To verify if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if your phone will charge.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Battery Drains Fast Randomly Powers Off

Problem: Hello, my problem is with my Samsung Galaxy note 4. The problem is, the phone will be fully charged, then it will get to about 60% or lower then will randomly power itself off and on. This process repeats until I connect it to the charger. Now I did try to hold the power button while it was restarting and it said it was dead. Once I connected it to the charger it said it was at 57%. I have looked for software updates, and there are none for it currently. I have tried taking the battery out, and putting it back in. I also have tried a factory reset. All these have led to no solution.

Solution: You should try checking if a faulty battery is causing this problem by replacing it with a new one. Most of the time this should resolve issues such as this. If the problem still remains even with a new battery installed then I suggest you try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any apps yet instead check if the issue still occurs.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Keeps Shutting Off

Problem: My note 4 kept shutting off and wouldn’t come back on.I have to take the battery in and out and wait a little bit. then it will come back on .today I did a factory reset. it worked fine all day until I was talking on the phone it keeps shutting down in the middle of a call. My husband has the same phone so we switched batteries it is still doing it. nothing is wrong with his phone or battery.

Solution: If you already tried doing a factory reset and even replaced the phone battery which didn’t fix the problem then it’s possible that this is already caused by a faulty internal component. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own After Upgrading to Marshmallow

Problem: Galaxy Note 4. Upgraded recently to Android 6. Since then when my phone reaches 12-15% battery life it immediately shuts down and i must plug in the charger. After doing so says battery is at 0%. Why such a sharp decline? All apps updated, same reaction when using an app, home screen and when resting. Any ideas

Solution: Whenever issues occur right after a major software update it is usually caused by old software data that gets left behind. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issues including this one. What you should do first is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don;t install any apps in your phone yet. Try to observe first if the issue remains. If it does then you should check if the battery is causing the problem by replacing it with a new one.

Note 4 Not Fast Charging

Problem: Hello I’ve always have the problem that when I connected to my charger, there is no fast charging. As this happened, the battery percent is hard to increase. When I try to fix it, I found that it works with another usb to functioning fast charging.. but the problem is I just bought my usb, but still it doesn’t function well.. I just can’t think of anything else rather than buying usb as much as I can for this phone.. I really need you to help me

Solution: What you will need to do first in this case is to make sure that the fast charging option is enabled in your device.

  • Tap apps
  • Tap Settings
  • Select Power saving
  • Turn on the Fast charging option

Once this is done try to check if the phone can fast charge. If it doesn’t the perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Try using another fast charger when charging the phone. If possible get the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging charger. You should also try using a different charging cord.
  • Try getting a new battery.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then the problem could be caused by a faulty charging port assembly. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Randomly Shuts Off

Problem: My Samsung galaxy note 4 will just randomly shut off and keeps trying to turn back on. It will only turn on if I plug it into a charger. The battery is not dead, it just keeps crashing. I deleted all apps I downloaded thinking maybe this was the cause but it is still doing it. When the phone is plugged in it does not crash.

Solution: If the issue does not occur when the phone is plugged into a charger then you should try using a new battery on your phone. If the issue still occurs even with a new battery then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try to check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode and perform a wipe cache partition. This will erase the temporary system data of the phone.
  • Backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Switches Off Randomly With Battery Power Left

Problem: My note 4 is 2 years old. The original battery packed up a month ago and I replaced it with another manufacturer original battery. Since then my phone switches off randomly with battery charge left…anything from 80 to 40 percent battery left. I can only restart the phone if I plug in to charge or soft reset. I have not installed a apps recently either. Please help!

Solution: You should first check if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don;t install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should try using a new battery on your phone.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this issue could be caused by a faulty internal component. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center if this is the case.

Note 4 Only Charges When Phone Is On

Problem: hello i bought a new samsung galaxy note 4 and fought two issues. firstly, the phone only charges when it’s on. when the device is turned off and plugged in, it shows no evidence of charging(no indicator light nor battery sign). secondly when the battery runs down to like 26% the device turns off. please help to fix this problem.

Solution: You should first check if the charger is causing this problem by using a different charger. You should also try using a different charging cord as this could be causing the problem.

Another factor you should check is the battery. Try getting a new battery and see if this fixes the problem.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
