S6 Turns Off Doesn’t Turn Back On
Problem: Tonight my phone had approximately 70% battery, and I set it down. About 15 mins later, it was turned off and wouldn’t turn back on. When I got home, I searched about potential solutions, and came across your site. I did the reboot with the power button and holding down the volume button. It came back on and had 43%, this was about an hour and a half after I discovered it would not turn on. I am curious to know if this is, in your experience, a fluke/glitch, or if I may have a great issue at hand. The phone is about a year old, no water damage, is always in a heavier case to guard against damage. I am not sure what operating system it is on, not sure how I can tell that? Any input would be appreciated!
Solution: This could possibly be caused by a glitch in the phone software. One particular clue that we could look at is the battery draining from 70% when the device was about to turn off and is capacity of 43% when you were able to turn it on. This might suggest that an app is aggressively running in the background and draining battery life. This in turn might have caused the phone to shut down. If you want to check this further you can start the phone in Safe Mode and observe its operation in this mode. Only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run when your phone is working in this mode so it’s easy to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Should the issue still occur even in Safe Mode then your other option is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. You should also consider having the battery of your phone checked at a service center.
S6 Won’t Charge
Problem: First phone won’t charge. Verizon gave me new phone two days ago now it won’t charge! What up? The only thing I can think of is that Verizon worked with me a few days ago to recover many pictures lost in Italy back to my phone through Verizon Cloud. Maybe restoring the pictures was too much for my phone? I tried again to do it with the second phone. Restoring took longer than I thought because I turned my Wifi off before bed and used up much data. Help. I don’t think they will give me a third phone. thank you, Ellen P.S. don’t know Android Version..
Solution: Are you using the same charger you used with the first phone? If you are then I suggest you try using a different charging cord and wall charger as this seems to be the common denominator among both devices.
If you are using a different charger in charging the second phone and it won’t charge then you might just have gotten a defective unit. I recommend that you have this checked by Verizon.
S6 Will Not Charge
Problem: The phone will not charge even when plugged in with different chargers power cords and outlets. Before this the phone was flickering off and on as if it was being plugged in and unplugged with the charger.
Solution: Since you already tried different chargers which doesn’t fix the problem what you should do right now is to check the phone by doing the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that could be lodged in this port.
- Perform a simulated battery pull. To do this just press and hold both the power key and the volume down key for at least 10 seconds.
- Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes.
If the above steps don’t fix the problem then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Got Wet Does Not Turn On If Not Connected To Charger
Problem: Samsung s6 got wet, it instantly powered down, pulled it out and dried it, put it in plastic bag with several silica bags for a week. Currently phone will not power on, when plugged in it says it is charging the battery but I’m not sure I trust it. With the power cord plugged in, the phone powers up and functions. As soon as it is unplugged it powers off. A replacement battery didn’t fix the issue.
Solution: It’s very likely that some component inside the phone has been water damaged, possibly the power IC which controls the power of the phone. For this issue I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center that specializes in board level repairs.
S6 Not Powering Up Even After Battery Replacement
Problem: S6 won’t power up or take charge. swapped battery with a known charged battery and still will not power up. Nothing at all. If I replace the charging port/board will that then allow it to start. In other words, is the is the phone’s ability to start up dependent on a functioning charging port/board?
Solution: Replacing the charging port assembly ( daughterboard) might fix this issue however you should also consider checking the power management IC of the phone which is located in the main motherboard of the device as this controls the power of the phone.
S6 Won’t Charge
Problem: Hi there, So the problem only started about 2 weeks ago. Every time I plug my phone into the charger I have been using since getting the Samsung S6 approx 1 year ago the phone makes a funny noise with the screen going black and then going back to normal but with out charging or showing the charging icon as it has previously. I would like to reset the phone to factory settings but I encrypted the device for work emails, So when i plug the device into a laptop/ desktop it states that due to the security policy I cannot connect it. I have done research on the above 2 issues, but cannot find anything.
Solution: For this particular issue you will have to clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Be sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once the port is clean try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. Should this fail to fix the problem then you should have this phone checked at a service center.
Regarding the factory reset issue you should try to perform the reset when the phone is in in recovery mode.
S6 Stuck In Boot Logo
Problem: While using my phone it suddenly changed to the samsung galaxy s6 logo page. I have tried several reboot options. 1. holding power button – nothing happened 2. holding down volume and power button – screen simply changed to the battery charge logo, but still unresponsive to any other actions 3. volume down, power, and home key, custom Os warning appears, select down volume to cancel and then Samsung logo screen just appears again and phone is still unresponsive. Is my only option left to do a factory reset? If so, how do I do that
Solution: Here’s what you need to do to fix this problem. First, try connecting your phone to its charger then see if it turns on this way. If it doesn’t then your other option is to do a factory reset. You will have to access the recovery mode to do a reset. Follow the steps listed below to access this mode.
- Make sure that the phone is turned off
- Press and Hold the Power Button, Volume Up Button and the Home Buttons at the Same Time
- Continue Holding These Buttons Until You See Some Blue Text at the Top
- When You See the ‘Recovery Booting….” Text, let go of the buttons
- Wait Until the Galaxy S6 Fully Boots into the Recovery Mode
- From here do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.
S6 Turns Off If Not On Charger
Problem: I have had my Samsung 6 on the charger for 30 mins and the percentage battery still says 0%. I can use the phone as long it’s on the charger. If I remove the charging cable it will turn off the phone until I plug it back in. is there a way to fix this problem?
Solution: It appears that the battery might need to be replaced already. Since this phone has a non user replaceable battery then I suggest that you bring this to a service center and have it done there.
