S5 Not Updating To Latest Software Version
Problem: Hi, I bought a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S5 from Chubbiestech ebay store. It was an AT&T unlocked unit and came with android 5.1.1. I was reading on the internet that there was an update to 6.0. So I looked and could not find the update anywhere. Then I read that I could go to Samsung at Best Buy and update my phone, which was a big mistake. After the update it had downgraded to 5.0 and I have not been able to upgrade back to 5.1.1. I’ve connected it to my Mac Book Pro which has Smart Switch. It is not prompting me to update the info says: OF3 (ATT); Model SM-G900A; My cel #; Android version 5.0; Internal memory 7.37GB/11.47GB. Please help,
Solution: In order for this device to get the software update it must meet the condition listed below.
- Since this is an unlocked device it should be running on its original network which in this case is AT&T. This allows the phone to access the AT&T update servers.
- The phone should not be rooted.
- The phone should not be running on a custom firmware.
If your phone meets the above conditions but it still isn’t getting any updates then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete try to check for any updates.
If the phone still can’t get any updates then you should consider manually flashing it to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Unfortunately Phone Has Stopped Error
Problem: First, I’m 65 years old, so bear with me! My Galaxy5 has “Unfortunately, Phone has stopped message.” My provider’s (TMobile) solution would wipe out everything that isn’t backed up. I don’t think I had a back-up on the phone like I do on my computer. Any suggestions?
Solution: Before trying to wipe everything in your phone you can try to wipe the cache partition of your device from recovery mode. This will only delete the temporary system data which could be causing the problem.
- Turn off the phone.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key
- When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
- Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
- Press the Power key to select.
- Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘Yes.’
- Press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the problem still remains then you should backup your phone data using Kies. Once this is done do a factory reset.
S5 S View Screen Keeps Activating
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos has been reset to factory settings recently to remove all junk and have fresh start. After wiping the system out I got OS updated to version 5.1.1. I also use S View Cover. With new OS I noticed a weird behavior. My S View mini screen started to turn on every minute or so for few seconds. This leads to an enormous battery discharge rate. Sometimes when it turns on I see the small wallpaper I set up before, other time I see a regular lock screen instead (like if I didn’t use S View) and sometimes it shows the last app running (like what I saw on screen at the moment I turned off the screen). It acts very glitchy and I have no idea how to handle it. Please, help
Solution: Since this issue occured right after you updated your phone software I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If the problem still occurs then try using another S View cover as this might be causing the problem.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then there might be something wrong with the phone sensor. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Not Connecting To Mobile Network
Problem: My phone doesn’t connect to any mobile network once I go through my building and the phone loses service. I tried everything such as, wiping partition , turning on and off airplane mode, etc… before the phone would search and find a mobile network to connect to, no matter how bad my reception area is. Now it just doesn’t even try to search and connect, any other methods I should try?
Solution: For this particular issue I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should check if other phone owners on the same network are having the same problem in your building. If it’s only your phone that has a problem then you should bring it to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Stuck In Boot Logo
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and today suddenly when i turned it off to change the battery, while i pressed the power button, it starts the booting system as well but it stuck on this forever. Sometimes the Galaxy S5 logo is breaking up into several parts. What shall i do now?
Related Problem: I’m having a problem. i turned on my phone and the Android man popped on and i removed the battery and turn around and put the battery back into the phone. I then powered the phone up and it came back on. It then got Froze on the Verizon red screen and will not do nothing but stay froze on my screen. I have tried taking out battery plenty of times and No luck. What can I do to get my phone in working condition. I have a Samsung s5.
Solution: If your phone gets stuck in its boot logo you should try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Take out the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then check if the issue still occurs.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
S5 Verizon Not Getting Updates On Straight Talk
Problem: I have a Straight Talk Verizon based Samsung Galaxy S5. I’ve had it for almost a year. when I had found out that Verizon has released the Android marshmallow software update I went to system settings about home check for updates and it says system has the current latest software and I have been trying ever since July and still no luck. everything that I have research says Straight Talk phone should still be able to get the marshmallow update but I have been unable to do so. Please help
Solution: The best way to get the Verizon Marshmallow update on your phone is to insert a Verizon SIM in your phone. This allows your device to access the Verizon update servers. If this doesn’t work then backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check for the update again.
Should the above steps fail then you should consider flashing the update to your device. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
